While it is still March 31 in most of the world, it is just past midnight in Japan, meaning the jokes have begun coming in.

  • Disgaea RPG – Prinny has taken of the Disgaea RPG Twitter account and official website.
  • Hikosan – A Death Stranding movie is in production.
  • Iris Mysteria! – In-game April Fools’ Day event will run until April 7 at 23:59 JST.

  • Medabots – Details have been unveiled regarding a mysterious, “OMG_Type” Medabot named Omega Knight, which is said to have been developed using certain game data as reference (Digimon).

  • Monster Rancher – The next Atelier game is Atelier Holly, starring Holly from Monster Rancher.
  • Shironeko Tennis – Version 2.9 (niku, or meat) update commerative cooking program with meat researcher Sirloin Tennis Yellow and cat ambassador Asai.

  • Studio HG – Mega Man joins Metallic Child as a guest playable character.
  • Steins;Gate – Announcing Otaku wa Tsuraiyo, a Steins;Gate comedy film in which Rintaro Okabe returns to Akihabara.

  • Quiz RPG: The World of Mystic Wiz – “Project Nyan-con” development video.

  • Arika – Announcing Prayer To Death, from Fighting EX Layer developer Arika.

    Fighting EX Layer was also initially announced as an April Fools’ Day title. While the Prayer To Death trailer does not have any actual gameplay, the last few seconds seems to tease a screenshot featuring characters Regaid and Shiri-sh.

  • Infiltrado – PlayStation 5 development kit main menu video leaked.

  • Arc System Works – Arc System Works will not have an April Fools’ Day joke this year, the company announced.
  • BoxBoy! – HAL Laboratory has Final Box!, a beat ’em up action game in the Boxboy series that gives Qbby and friends a muscular transformation.
  • Bubble BobbleBubble Bobble series protagonist Bubblun was arrested, the BBC (Bubblun Broadcast Channel) announced. Monsta filed a lawsuit against Bubblun claiming psychological damage caused by Bubblun’s performance in Bubble Bobble 4 Friends. Read the full story of the trial and verdict here.
  • Cryptract – An event will occur in Cryptract on April 1…

  • Capcom Dev 1 – “The future may be uncertain, but remember – we’re not alone. There are people fighting on the front lines to make things better. And each and every one of us can do our part. This year, instead of celebrating April Fool’s, we’ll be supporting everyone in these trying times.”
  • Capcom Sound Team – The Capcom Sound Team produces various sound effects each day. One day, in the hallway in front of the sound effects recording studio Foley Stage, Dr. Foley and a guitarist get into a heated encounter…

  • Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle – Starting April 2, Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle will implement racing game mode “Dokkan Race.”
  • Dragon Quest WalkDragon Quest Walk and Rizap collaborate to give your body a Robbin’ ‘Ood transformation.

  • Entergram – Entergram has announced Nano wa Bishoujo Nano ja!, a visual novel based on its mascot character. Visit the teaser website here.
  • Fate/Grand Order – The first of this year’s Fate/Grand Order limited app download is tower destruction game Fate/Grand Order MyCraft LostBelt. It is available now for iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play until April 5 at 23:59 JST.

  • Fate/Grand Order – The second of this year’s Fate/Grand Order limited app download is Fate/Grand Order Gutentag Omen, a Servant-catching game wthat does not require going outside. It will be available from April 2 at 0:00 JST to April 5 at 23:59 JST.

  • KeyClannad developer Key has will not do an April Fools’ Day joke this year in light of the current situation surrounding the novel coronavirus COVID-19, opting to instead focus on game development, the company announced.
  • Love Live! School Idol FestivalLove Love! School Idol Festival is collaborating with… the Powerpuff Girls!? This is an April Fools’ Day-only limited event. Read more here.
  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – “Fantasy Battle Royale” is now available for one week only! Form your party of Wizards, Barbarians, Rangers, and Paladins to take on the Battlegrounds and claim special rewards and a poultry supper.

  • Ryota Aomi – Introducing the new Dragon Quest merchandise “Size 0.610mm (Roto) Slime Figure.” It is very small, so make sure you do not lose it.

  • Street Fighter V – Play the browser game Neco Drop.

  • Super Robot Wars X Omega – Bandai Namco has opened cast auditions for a “Huge Robot Science-Fiction Movie.”
  • Tales of the Rays – Introducing Tales of VS 2, a Tales of series fighting game featuring over 150 playable characters. It will launch (launched?) on December 15, 1995 (the original release date of Tales of Phantasia).

  • Tokyo Chronos – “Nikaido Curry” is now in development, myDearest announced.
