How do I get refined quartz in Stardew Valley?

There are various minerals that you can use to make crafting items in Stardew Valley. Some materials such as fibers, wood, and stone are easy to find. On the other hand, materials such as Refined Quartz are difficult to find.

Refined Quartz is a very useful piece of equipment in Stardew Valley. This is because it can be used for multiple crafting recipes, quests, and one of the new Community Center bundles.

You might want all of these as a player, but you don’t know how to obtain the mineral. This article will explain how to refine quartz in Stardew Valley. You also learn how to find and use them.

There are two ways in which you can get refined quartz which is either polishing or finding it.

You can find pieces of ordinary quartz easily in Stardew Valley. This is because it is a foraged item in both the mines and Skull Cavern. It cannot be used as a replacement for refined quartz, but it can be polished into one.

4 ways to get refined quartz in Stardew Valley

There are four ways to obtain this fine mineral:

1. Smelting ordinary quartz

The best way to get refined quartz in Stardew Valley is to smelt ordinary quartz. You can do so by inserting the quartz in a furnace with one coal as the fuel. At the end of the process, you will get one refined quartz.

To get more refined quartz in Stardew Valley, the player needs to place one fire quartz in the furnace with one coal to make 3 refined quartz. Whichever method you use to obtain refined quartz, smelting will take one and a half hours of in-game time.

2. Recycling machine

Another way to make refined quartz in Stardew Valley is by using a recycling machine. All you need is either a broken CD or broken glasses retrieved from trash cans. Process them in the recycling machine to get refined quartz.

There are rare cases where you can obtain refined quartz in trashcans but hey, it’s worth a try, isn’t it? You can also look through trash cans to find these precious minerals.

3. Mines and skull cavern

It is very rare to find refined quartz in the mines and Skull Cavern. However, you can find rare refined quartz in Stardew Valley quartz mine level while breaking large rocks.

They can be a rare drop from ghosts on floors 51 to 30 floors down the Mines. There is a 10 percent chance they can be dropped by Carbon Ghosts in the Skull Cavern.

4. Ghostfish fish pond

This is the last alternative to finding refined quartz. The player needs to own a ghostfish pond on their farm. When the fish pond reaches a population of nine, it will start producing refined quartz.

Refined quartz is used as an ingredient in many crafting recipes. Some of these recipes are required to create more helpful items in the game. Examples are crystal floor, lightning rod, crystal path, quality sprinkler, farm computer, solar panel, and garden pot.

Buildings such as the Slime Hutch also require refined quartz to build them. This is one of the farm buildings used to raise slimes in the game.
