Solution 1: Reset the game

The game could be malfunctioning as a result of the game files misbehaving and if this is the case, then a simple reset will solve the problem. Here is how to do that;

  1. Click the Start button and navigate to Settings.
  2. Select System from the settings options.
  3. Navigate to Apps & Features.
  4. Locate the game from the available options and click Advanced options.
  5. Click Reset.
  6. Restart your PC to effect the changes.

Solution 2: Delete the game’s temporary files

Temporary files related to the game may also be responsible for the Forza Horizon 3 crashes on startup problem and you will have to remove them to get the game to function properly all over again. Here is how to do that.

  1. Click the Start button on your PC’s home screen and navigate to Settings.
  2. Select System from the settings options and then click Storage.
  3. Select This PC and then click Temporary Files.
  4. Choose the temporary files of the game and click Remove Files.
  5. Restart your PC and launch the game.

Solution 3: Perform a clean boot

There could be a conflict with software in your PC that is causing Forza Horizon 3 to crash on startup and you will have to perform a clean boot to eliminate the problem.

  1. Click the Start button and select
  2. Type msconfig and press Enter.
  3. Click
  4. Check the box next to the Hide all Microsoft Services
  5. Choose Disable all.
  6. Move to the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager.
  7. Choose the programs that might be interfering with your game and disable them.
  8. Restart your PC and launch the game.
