Miss the good old days of playing “Impossible Bosses” on Warcraft 3 with your friends? Well, NEO Impossible Bosses is exactly what you need. Inspired by that same mod, the game promises hours of fun without the dreaded MMO grind.

NEO Impossible Bosses is an RTS MOBA raid boss rush game. In it, players get to choose from 6 heroes to form a party of 4. After choosing their heroes and forming the party, they can earn items as they progress through the game.

A one-man team

When asked what inspired Edwin, the lone developer behind Neo Impossible Bosses, he cited the mechanical depth of World of Warcraft’s raid/dungeon bosses. In terms of game design, he mentioned wanting to explore a playstyle where players weren’t restricted to a single character.

Gameplay

Every boss has its own unique mechanics and signature abilities, which players will have to overcome. The battle system will seem familiar to players who have played MMORPGs like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV.

In Neo Impossible Bosses, players are placed in an arena after selecting their heroes, and have to face off against the boss of that arena. They will then have to survive the boss’ mechanics while dealing damage to it. Upon the boss’ defeat, players will be teleported to a safe area where they can purchase items to increase their character stats.

The Modes

Players can choose to play alone and control all 4 heroes themselves. A pause feature can be used to stop the fight while the player issues orders to the heroes.

Alternately, you could play with friends or other players online to reduce the burden of controlling 4 heroes. There is also an Ironman Mode, which features a roguelike experience. In Ironman Mode, defeat in a boss fight means a loss.
