The Shower SHIRT® Co. principal/inventor, Lisa F. Crites, was selected to present at the World Government Summit 2016, in Dubai, as part of  her national 2015 Patient Innovation award from the Catolica’ University School of Business & Economics, Lisbon, Portugal.   

The only American-based organization to receive a ‘Patient Innovation’ award, The Shower Shirt Co. presented with Portugal’s Patient Innovation Team at the Edge of Government exhibit during this year’s World Government Summit, held in the United Arab Emirates.

“We were thrilled to be part of the World Government Summit,” said Crites, The SHOWER SHIRT Co., principal.  “It was a great privilege to present to dignitaries from across the globe, while also learning about cutting-edge healthcare innovations not introduced to the US as of yet.  It was also an honor for our team to be featured on Dubai TV as part of the international event,” added Crites.

The SHOWER SHIRT, a patented, water-resistant garment which protects against the risk of post-surgical infections after chest surgery was introduced to the US market in 2011, and presently exported to patients in Canada, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel, Austria, and soon exported to the United Arab Emirates.

The inspiration behind the water-resistant creation began after Crites could not shower after mastectomy surgery, due to post-surgical drains. “My goal has always been to make women feel better after the physical trauma of having their breasts amputated,” added Crites.  “It stands to reason if patient feels better mentally, then chances are they will feel better emotionally, and something severely needed after a breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy surgery.”  

The water-resistant shower garment is also utilized by hemodialysis patients, bariatric and transplant patients; hernia, external defibrillator, rotator cuff surgery patients and also patients needing wound vacs, infusion pumps, and central lines.
