Ultra Indie - Special Addition: Dystopia, a Horror-Themed App

Dystopia is a genius work-in-progress multi-player augmented reality game. Similar in concept to PokemonGo. you won't find cute little Jigglypuffs roaming around in this universe but rather evil, nightmarish creatures for players to evolve and upgrade.

How could Fear with Beer pass on featuring this concept on Ultra Indie?

The app, the BRAINS-child of UK-based Jaye Adams, is built around the story of Dystopia, an alternate universe inhabited by horrifying creatures attempting to punch through into our realm. Creepy myths and legends? Dark dreams? Those originate from temporary Dystopian visits. The three leaders of Dystopia, known as the Desomites, have made it their mission to tear down the veil between our two realities once and for all.

As a human player, you will collect and build your Dystopian creatures, battling them against other creatures at real-world portals. The game, shooting for a release date of this Halloween (2016), is envisioned as part of a a wider franchise by Adams, who has set some ambitious sites on a later VR
version.

Adams, a professed fan of "all things horror", is building the concept in true Ultra Indie fashion as the first major debut release for her start-up company Birds Nest Apps. According to Adams, the initial feedback and support to the concept has been exceedingly positive, Adams, by the way, draws particular inspiration from the work of director James Wan, director of Saw and Dead Silence.

Fear with Beer will be following the progress of Dystopia, and we definitely are pulling for the success of this inspired and darkly creative venture. Good luck, Jaye!

Until the app is launched, you can view this Dystopia promo on YouTube as well as check out other teasers on the Dystopia website.

Also, thanks, Jaye, for forcing me, Mangus, the Dark Grammarian, to decide whether or not to italicize the name of an app. Since Dystopia is story-driven and certainly closer to a movie than a functional tool, I'm laying down the italics, may the grammar gods have mercy on my soul.
