Academy award winning actress Brie Larson is brilliant and extremely talented, never failing to deliver solid performances and always manages to connect with the audience no matter the role. She became widely known from her breakout role in “21 Jump Street” starring alongside Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. Since then she has gone on to deliver strong and even breath-taking performances to eventually winning an Oscar, which she truly deserves.

So here are 5 good movies in which Brie Larson gives outstanding performances, which you should definitely take time to see, if you haven’t already.

Room

Brie Larson’s Oscar winning role where she stars as Ma, a woman who was kidnap and held in a shed for 7 years while raising her son in one room. Larson really shines in this role, showing sincere emotions and allowing the audience to empathise for ma. If you haven’t seen Room already, then watch it! Honestly this touching and powerful drama is a must see.

Short Term 12

Brie Larson Stars as the lead in this indie drama as Grace, her performance was brilliant, honestly it is Oscar worthy. Larson portrays Grace a supervisor at a group home for at-risk teens. Short Term 12 is a humane, touching and well-acted drama, which will captivate you from beginning to end as  you feel  for every single character.

The Spectacular Now

Larson Stars as Cassidy in the spectacular now, however she is not the lead in this indie romance, she plays Mile Teller’s Ex-Girlfriend. The spectacular now is a sweet, realistic teenage love story. (you can read my review on it here). You should definitely watch this spectacular film to see Larson’s amazing performance as the cool, ambitious party girl.

Trainwreck

In the comedy Trainwreck, Larson stars alongside Amy Schumer, as Amy’s sister, Kim. Trainwreck is a hilarious and fun film which stands out from your typical clichéd rom-coms. Even though it’s a comedy Larson usually appears in the more dramatic scenes as Amy’s more mature sister, which balances the comedy and drama evenly in the film.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Although Larson isn’t a main character in this film, she makes a fantastic appearance as Scott Pilgrim’s rock star ex-girlfriend, Envy Adams. Larson proves in this film not only can she act but she can also carry a tune. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is a funny and entertaining movie. If you still feel like this isn’t a film for you, make sure you check out this video of Larson singing and rockin’ out, maybe that will convince you.

Other movies that I have seen which Brie Larson stars in are Greenberg and digging for fire, these movies were not to my liking, but you may want to check them out.
