Currently prepping a shoot for the R-rated last stand of Hugh Jackman’s X-Men mutant Wolverine, director James Mangold is already eying his next project. The Oscar-nominated director of such titles as COPLAND and WALK THE LINE has officially come aboard Captain Nemo, an origin story based on the character created by author Jules Verne.
Sebastian Gutierrez is currently penning the screenplay to Captain NEMO, the project previously attached to David Fincher. With Bryan Singer soon to set sail with his own version of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA for 20th Century Fox, it’ll be a race to see which hits the big screen first and who will take the biggest chunk of box-office.
