Check out this letter I recently received from an actor. I Love this!:
Les,
I recently went on a one week cruise. I told my reps I’d have no service, and said I’d be unavailable to return or put myself on tape…
On our cruise’s last day, while at sea, I get a chance reception on my iPhone.
BING!
A voicemail, text, and e-mail from my agent – saying casting has requested for me to submit myself on tape. My agent said they know I was unavailable, but if I somehow had the ability to do this, that would be great – and if not, totally acceptable.
Ugh… I wanted to enjoy my last day at sea just gorging on the buffet and laying around the pool deck like the manatee I am (especially before returning to juice cleanses and working out).
It was a short enough bit, and I coaxed my reluctant sister to tape me in front of the on-board computer. Paid $45 for one day of WiFi, and somehow sent it off. And off I went to eat yet another hot dog and pizza.
Fast forward to yesterday – my agent calls and asks if I am free today. I reply, “Sure…”
“Your tape just got network approval, and you’re shooting tomorrow on [A FAB NEW HBO SHOW]. The script’s been sent, and it’s with one of the leads – a character named Lawrence [played by your client, Les].”
Three network bookings in three weeks!
Just wanted to share the love and gratitude with you – yet again.
Much love,
- M
