The Blind Side - Released March 26th 2010

I went and saw this Film today and I must say, it was better than I was expecting. The Blind Side tells the story of Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), an underprivileged teenager, who with help from the Tuohy family became an All American football player and his journey from the streets to the sporting spotlight.

The film doesn't get off to an electrifying start and I felt with some gaps in the foundations of the story, however once it did warm up, you could't help but feel for Michael and the things that he has had to face in his life at such a young age. Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) introduces Michael into her family and this is where the film takes off. Sandra Bullock does indeed play this part particularly well and it was a pleasure to watch her back to her best, but was it to an Oscar winning performance? .... perhaps?

Overall the film had an important message and a heart-warming story that it put across well, as well as a good sprinkle of humor that kept the laughs coming, mainly from Leigh Anne's son S.J (Jae Head) which gave the film the release I think it needed at times. On the other hand at over 2 hours long there were parts that could have been cut without loosing the story. If you are patient enough to sit through the first 20 minutes I would recommend this as a heart-warming story with good performances from the major cast members.

I'd give this film 3/5
