Manisha Koirala is shooting in Chennai for Suraj directed Maapillai being made by Sun Pictures.

Manisha is playing Dhanush’s arrogant mother-in-law in the film where Hansika Motwani will play her daughter.

Maapillai is a remake of Rajinikanth’s 1989 film with the same title. The film revolves around a clash between an arrogant mother-in-law who always tries to be one-up on her smart alec son-in-law.


Earlier the team, had tried to rope in Sridevi, Tabu or Jayaprada but nothing worked. It is going to be Manisha’s comeback in Tamil films after eight years. It is ironical that Manisha’s last release was Baba with Rajinikant whose real life ‘Maapillai’ (son-in-law) Dhanush is Playing her Maapillai in reel life.
