Cardi B: denied registration of the word Okurrr

Cardi B will not be able to register his famous word Okurrr after officers deny his request alleging that he is not so special. Sorry, next!

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Cardi was denied the trademark registration after his request to block his famous Okurrr.

Patent and trademark officials from the USA explained that Cardi's slogan falls within the category of “commonly used common expressions” and does not fit the bill to merit a trademark. They also pointed out that Okurrr does not distinguish itself from other brands.

According to the website, the officers combed the Internet and found lots of different times that the word Okurrr has been used, and unfortunately many of the examples are just fans copying the rapper of “Money”. Similarly there are examples of the Kardashians being associated with the word over the years, so the officers felt justified their decision to place it as a common expression.

And to complete some Cardi B fans had already submitted requests to register similar marks before the rapper presented it in March.

So, Okurrr will not be registered trademark of Cardi B.
