Reed’s (Tristan Lake Leabu) had a rough go since coming to live with his overbearingly strict mom. He may not be the best kid in the world, but Victoria’s Harsh Punishments don’t make it any easier. He’s like a fish out of water and feels like all he has to hold onto is his music. All he wants is his mother’s approval so when she shows up at the bar to watch him play, it’s enough to get him back on stage. He bravely puts his embarrassment aside and picks up his guitar. Reed hopes he can make his mom’s jaw drop to the floor.
Unfortunately, like most things in Reed’s life right now, things don’t go his way. Just when Reed gets into the groove, a phone call from Cane (Daniel Goddard) takes over Victoria’s attention. Yes, getting an update on the Tokyo deal is important, but putting it before Reed doesn’t make him feel good at all. While Victoria (Amelia Heinle) gets up and leaves the bar, Reed’s left on the stage near tears and struggling to continue his song. It’s a hurtful moment that could very well destroy their relationship for a long time. Victoria better find a way to make up for this parenting fail, or she could risk losing Reed’s trust for the foreseeable future.
