Final Destination 6 title announced

The latest Final Destination movie is currently filming and the movie has an official title.

The sixth installment in the saga is titled Final Destination: Bloodlines.

Producer Craig Perry wrote on his social media this week,

“After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing.”

See you next year! PS: I know, I know — Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years, and we’re keeping it… for now.”

Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are directing the fresh installment.

Final Destination 6 will be written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick, with Jon Watts producing.

Producers on the new movie for New Line Cinema also include Dianne McGunigle as well as Final Destination producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor.

“Final Destination” was one of the most durable horror franchises of the 2000s. In each of the five installments (which spanned from 2000 to 2011), a small group of people who escape impending Death after one individual (the protagonist) sees a sudden premonition and warns them about the mass-casualty accident that is about to happen. After avoiding their foretold deaths, the survivors are killed one by one in bizarre accidents caused by an unseen force creating complicated chains of cause and effect, resembling Rube Goldberg machines, and then read omens sent by another unseen entity in order to again avert their deaths.

The series is noteworthy among other horror films for its use of an antagonist that is not a stereotypical slasher or other physical being, but Death manifested, subtly manipulating circumstances in the environment with a design on claiming anyone who escapes their fated demise. The films have grossed $657 million worldwide to date.

In our interview with franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick in 2020 he stated that:

There will be a sixth one. It was in the works for real…it was really in the works before Covid hit. So that’s kind of obviously put everything on hold with development. So I think once…Hollywood kind of gets back into the groove of things, you know, they’ll start working on that again.
