‘The Crown’ releases First Look at Final Season

Netflix has revealed the first-look images for Part 1 of the sixth and final season of “The Crown,” which premieres on Nov. 16 with Part 2 airing on Dec. 14.

With each season of “The Crown” following a new era of the Royal Family in chronological order, Season 6 brings viewers up to the late 1990s. Part 1 will follow the romantic relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, leading up to their untimely deaths.

In addition to exploring their relationship and tragic car accident, the Season 6 logline reads:

“Prince William tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother’s death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion. As she reaches her Golden Jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy with the marriage of Charles and Camilla and the beginnings of a new Royal fairytale in William and Kate.”

With Season 6 depicting the lives of Prince William and Prince Harry as they come of age, two actors will play each character as younger and older versions. Rufus Kampa plays Prince William in Part 1, and Ed McVey plays him in Part 2; Fflyn Edwards plays Prince Harry in Part 1, and Luther Ford portrays him in Part 2. Meg Bellamy will play Kate Middleton.

Elizabeth Debicki reprises her role as Princess Diana. She said of the experience,

“I think it’s a really unique challenge as an actor, to portray those days. I really just trusted in Peter’s emotional blueprint that he created for us to follow. It’s his interpretation and I think it made emotional sense to me, so I clung to that. Because, obviously, it’s devastating and it’s fraught and we can never know.”

Additional cast members include Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair, Salim Daw as Mohamed Al Fayed and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed.
