Netflix cancels adult animated series Inside Job

Netflix has officially cancelled the adult animated series Inside Job on the streaming platform. Show creator and writer Shion Takeuchi confirmed the news on Twitter.

This news comes shortly after another writer, Chase Mitchell, posted vague tweets about a show being canceled. The tweets were quickly deleted after they were posted, but not before fans began to do their own research and concluded that the show he was mentioning was Inside Job.

“I dunno if I was allowed to say this but honestly that streamer does not care about animation anymore so who gives a s—.”

Inside Job is a workplace comedy set in a world where many conspiracy theories are real. It is centered on an American shadow government organisation Cognito, Inc., which is one of six organisations that control the world (the others being the Illuminati, the Atlantians, the Reptoids, the Catholic Church and the Juggalos). The series follows a team led by a tech genius and her new partner as they work in the organisation alongside reptilian shapeshifters, a human–dolphin hybrid, and a sapient mushroom from hollow Earth.

The series premiered on October 22, 2021.

The series received positive reviews from critics, who praised the animation, voice acting and social commentary. The second part of the first season was released on November 18, 2022.

Takeuchi, a former Gravity Falls writer, acts as showrunner and is an executive producer alongside Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch and BoJack Horseman director Mike Hollingsworth.

All 18 episodes of Inside Job Season 1 are currently streaming on Netflix.
