Doctor Who: Flux had already announced an airdate, with Jodie Whittaker’s new collection of adventures confirmed to be kicking off on Sunday 31st October.

Each of the six episodes will be scripted by Chris Chibnall, except episode four, which he’s co-written with Maxine Alderton. The series was split between two directors, with Jamie Magnus Stone (Spyfall, Ascension of The Cybermen, The Timeless Children) returning to the series alongside newcomer Azhur Saleem.

The title for the upcoming first instalment and a brief synopsis has been revealed, as anticipation reaches new highs ahead of the show’s return.

Series 13 will begin with the spookily titled episode The Halloween Apocalypse.

The synopsis for The Halloween Apocalypse reads:

‘A universe-spanning adventure in space and time starring Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and John Bishop.

On Halloween, all across the universe, terrifying forces are stirring. From the Arctic Circle to deep space, an ancient evil is breaking free. And in present day Liverpool, the life of Dan Lewis is about to change forever.’

A picture has also been released by the BBC, showing new monster Karvanista – one of the furry, formidable foes the Doctor will be facing in the upcoming episode.

Additional casting has been announced for Doctor Who: Flux including Blake Harrison and Kevin McNally.

This follows the recent news that 13th Doctor actress Jodie Whittaker and show-runner Chris Chibnall are set to leave the iconic BBC sci-fi show Doctor Who. Their time on the show will culminate with a trio of Specials, culminating in an epic blockbuster Special to air in autumn 2022 as part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations. We also recently learned that Russell T Davies (Doctor Who, Queer as Folk, It’s a Sin) will make an explosive return as showrunner for the BBC sci-fi show Doctor Who for the 60th Anniversary in 2023, and new series beyond that.
