Doctor Who/Big Finish actor dies

Actor David Bailie, known for his performances on stage television and film has passed away at the age of 83.


His death was announced on the Big Finish twitter page.


Bailie played Dask (Taren Capel) in the Doctor Who television story The Robots of Death. In the serial, the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) and Leela (Louise Jameson) arrive on a sandminer whose crew, from a robot-dependent civilisation, are being murdered.

He reprised the role of Taren Capel in the Kaldor City audio plays Taren Capel and Checkmate.

In 2009 he played the Celestial Toymaker in the Big Finish Productions audio dramas The Nightmare Fair and Solitaire.


Bailie also appeared in Blake’s 7, on film, he played the mute pirate Cotton in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Bailie was also a professional photographer, specialising in portrait photography.
