‘The Batman’ resumes Filming in UK

Leading figures in the U.K. film production sector told Variety Friday that they continue to have absolute faith in the measures being taken to keep cast and crew safe from COVID-19 on British sets. Production on “The Batman” has reportedly resumed at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, U.K., albeit without star Robert Pattinson’s presence, according to the Daily Mail. On Thursday, Pattinson was diagnosed with COVID-19 and has to self-isolate for 14 days. Warner Bros.’ had reportedly suspended filming in the United Kingdom after star Robert Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19.

The Mail’s report claims that director Matt Reeves is trying to finish as much of the shoot as he can without Pattinson, including scenes with the actor’s body double. Variety has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment.

Director Matt Reeves, in a panel during DC FanDome, revealed that The Batman takes place during “Year Two” of the Dark Knight’s emergence — before his enemies have become full-fledged supervillains.

Pattinson is playing the Caped Crusader in the movie, taking over the role from Ben Affleck, who starred as the Dark Knight in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad & Justice League.

The cast for The Batman also includes Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, John Turturro as crime boss Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred. Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson and the Carver Twins are also on the call sheet.
