The First Trailer for Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien: Covenant’ Released By Twentieth Century Fox is as Gory as the 1979 Original

Twentieth Century Fox have released the first trailer for Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant, sequel to Prometheus (2012) and prequel to the classic Alien trilogy that kicked off in 1979 starring Sigourney Weaver. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the android David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. When the crew, captained by Billy Crudup, go exploring, they cause disturbance to a chamber of incubating eggs and awaken an ominous and unknown Alien species (much like in the original). On the journey back home, they discover a few more beings onboard the Covenant then when they set off from Earth, setting off a battle of survival. Alien: Covenant looks to match the slick design and contemporary visuals of Prometheus, while paying tribute to the horror of the original trilogy, bridging the gap between the past and present of the franchise. The trailer features the alien that started the franchise off, as well as an ode to the iconic alien bursting out of the chest moment – this time bursting out of someone’s back.

Covenant finds Fassbender reprising his role as the synthetic David, and Ridley Scott announced he planned on a continuation of the relationship between David and Noomi Rapace’s characters but Rampace doesn’t appear in the trailer. Instead the film’s cast includes Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby

Alien: Covenant is set to be released theatrically in the US and UK on the 19th of May. You can watch the gory trailer below.
