Mark Hamill Is OK With Not Returning To ‘Star Wars’

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, who plays the iconic role of Luke Skywalker in the movies recently revealed that he is fine with not returning to the franchise.

As we all know, in Star Wars The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker creates a hologram of himself to fight Kylo Ren. He does this in order to create a distraction so the Resistance could make an escape. Once the fight is over, and Kylo Ren realizes he cannot harm Luke, the movie takes us back to the secluded island, where Luke vanishes before the twin suns, leaving behind nothing but his Jedi robes. Luke Skywalker is presumed dead by fans, and they are probably correct.

When Hamill spoke to ABC News he spoke about his future in the movies, pointing out on how the sad passing on Carrie Fisher got to him. “It really has tarnished my ability to enjoy it to its fullest.” Hamill said. “You were asking earlier, ‘Are you gonna come back?’ I don’t care anymore, on that level. Because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone. You just can’t get the band back together the way you wanted it to be, and it shouldn’t be that way. It is what it is. Rather than being sorry that we can’t have more of her, I’m just grateful that we had the time with her that we did.”

Obviously it’s definitely more than likely that Mark Hamill will make an appearance in the next installment of the Star Wars franchise which will be produced by J.J Abrams, but whether he is still alive another question. He’ll probably return in the form of a ghost, as we have seen before with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda in Episode V Return of the Jedi.

When he recently spoke to the BBC, Mark Hamill said that he refuses to believe his character is dead, and joked that Skywalker teleported to a nudist colony.

“I refuse to believe that he’s gone.” Hamill said. “My theory is he just teleported to somewhere else and left his robe behind. He teleported to a nudist colony, that’s what I’m hoping.” While he doesn’t want to admit that Luke died in The Last Jedi he doesn’t comment further on whether he’d like to be an any other movies.
