Sherlock creator Steven Moffat confirms that it will be a long wait for the show to make a highly anticipated return to our screens.
Creator of Sherlock, Steven Moffat has hinted at the longest wait yet for new episodes of his highly rated show. The 56-year-old Scottish producer and screenwriter was honest when being interviewed by Radio Times, confirming that the gap between episodes will be the biggest yet.
Moffat and his Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss are currently hard at work on their new drama Dracula and have paused all work on Sherlock for the time being – but says it is likely that the Benedict Cumberbatch drama will return at some point, he said: We’re not going to do Sherlock whilst we’re doing Dracula. So it’s not going to happen in the immediate future. Never say never, but no – we don’t have an idea [right now].”

“Nobody has ever closed the door on Sherlock” he claimed, “we just say the same thing all the time and it gets quoted different ways,”
He continued: “We haven’t got an immediate plan, but I would remain surprised, given the collective enthusiasm we have for it, if we didn’t do it again.
“When, I don’t know. I think maybe the time for a longer gap is upon us, I don’t know. A longer gap? They’re always long gaps!”
