Vikings Creator Michael Hirst Teases Bishop Heahmund Plus Official Season 5 Synopsis

Season 5 of ‘Vikings’ is coming, and we’ve got an official synopsis now as well as new details of the next big arrival, Bishop Heahmund.

Fans have even more been hyped for the next season on ‘Vikings’ since the season 5 trailer dropped at SDCC, and creator Michael Hirst has excited us even more with an inside view into season 5’s most anticipated new character, Heahmund. Hirst provided us with a description of the Bishop, who is played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Speaking specifically about Heahmund, Hirst seemed to describe him as a forerunner to the well-known historical figures The Knights Templar. Hirst explained these as: “real men of God. They were very intelligent, very well educated. But, they also felt that they needed to take up the sword to defend the cross.”

Heahmund will also be an ‘Unpredictable character’ who is charismatic and intense, a real great warrior also, Hirst said. These seem to be the makings of a really great character, let’s hope all this talk plays off on screen. Jonathan Rhys Meyers, has worked with Michael Hirst before, on his other huge show The Tudors, and Hirst describes the actor as a ‘Huge addition’ and one that ‘Commands the screen’.
