We Can’t Study Getting Anime Adaptation

2018 is one of the best years for manga readers in ages. Hinamatsuri, Grand Blue, Kaguya-sama, Golden Kamui, Average Abilities, Go-Toubun, etc. So many fantastic manga serializations are either already getting adaptations or will be getting them soon. Somehow, this tidal wave just doesn’t seem to want to stop, as a We Can’t Study Anime adaptation is all but confirmed.

  • Chapters: 74
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Genres: Romance, Comedy, Harem, School Life
  • Serialization: Weekly Shounen Jump

The Waifu Wars

As a harem anime to its core, the representation of everyone’s favorite female characters is going to be a very important factor in this adaptation. Firstly, we can expect a majority of the episodes to centralize around Fumino, Ogata, and Uruka. I’m not quite sure how open the Japanese are about presenting implications of student-teacher relationships. The possibility that the production team marginalizes Kirisu (my best girl) in the adaptation is the darkest timeline for me.

Likewise, this happened in the Hinamatsuri Anime Adaptation. The production team cut a majority of the chapters concerning the yakuza in favor of chapters with Anzu and Hitomi.

What We Know

Now, keep in mind that the We Can’t Study anime adaptation hasn’t explicitly been confirmed yet. There are just several factors that heavily imply it. As a result, we know nothing about the cast or the studio working on this project. The only thing we can be sure of is that Aniplex will be producing it.

We could make some assumptions about the episode structure. If they animate two manga chapters per episode, then we’re going to find ourselves ending the season quite anticlimactically. It seems like there aren’t any good points in the story to end a 12-episode run with any closure unless they cut out chapters with a meat cleaver.

Conclusion

I’ve been quoted saying that the day We Can’t Study and Tomo-chan wa Onna no ko get anime adaptations is the day that my heart goes supernova. Due to We Can’t Study, I’m now half-way to having that be the case. With how things have been going for the past few months, I’m quite ready to see that become reality.

All in all, the next few anime seasons are going to be a great time to be a manga fan. In particular, if you’re a romance manga reader, then you’re probably bouncing around like an excited puppy. I’ll definitely be watching all of these adaptations, and I’ll share my thoughts if anything exceptional happens with any of them.
