This was a night of predictably pretty good performances. Save for one contestant, everything was essentially as I thought it would be. This wasn't a revolutionary night over at X Factor, but it was night of reasonably solid performances that are slowly churning us through the rest of this season. They gave Honey G another standing ovation. Again. So, there's that.
SAARA AALTO (OVERS)
"Enough is Enough"
You have to respect everything Saara brings. She has to work twice as hard as the other contestants to just pull herself out of the bottom three but comes back week after week and does her thing. This was no exception! I gave her a bit too much last week, it wasn't as good as I thought it was. It was just a lot to take in. This was much better. The production was flashy and bright. Unlike when she did heavy choreography in 'River Deep, Mountain High', her Vocals were incredibly strong when she was dancing. The wardrobe was still flashy, but a bit understated. I think she couldn't have come back any stronger. A-

I thought this was a predictably okay performance from Ryan. Like, it wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. This was exactly what I thought the performance was going to be. Ryan on a platform, kind of dancing and bending over a little, then kind of interacting with the audience. It was manufactured fun and even more predictable. B-
"Boogie Wonderland/September"
Come on, funk! Come on, vocals! They just keep getting better and better, don't they? They were one of two acts that I believe genuinely captured the spirit of disco while infusing it with modern vocals. The dancing was a bit cheesy, but it was just enough cheese in the burger that was this performance. A-

Good. Predictable. Very predictable, but predictably good. It felt like a really good karaoke performance. I want him to change it up and get innovative because the random spurts of falsetto got old for me about three or four weeks ago. B

Gee, I didn't expect that! Emily sung a slower tempo song and just stood on a platform. I never expected this, wow! The only two things that separated this from nearly everything she did was the R&B touch slapped on and her hair being curled. I like her voice but her shtick is beginning to get a little old. Seems like Simon's the one doing all the controlling, because every time the judges said something negative she was nodding like a bobble head and agreeing with them! Haha. C
