Hailing from Gujarat, Munawar Faruqui carved a niche for himself as promising stand-up comedian. He rose to fame after he won Kangana Ranaut hosted Lock Upp season 1. Since then, his personal life is grabbing headline as he made shocking confessions on the reality show. Now, Munawar Faruqui is a part of Bigg Boss 17 and his game is already garnering love from the audience. In recent promo he was seen crying inconsolably as he missed his son. Munawar Faruqui has a son

During his stint in Lock Upp, a picture of Munawar with a lady and kid went viral. Opening up about his, he confessed he is already married and has a child. He admitted, “We have been separate for the past one and a half years. Court ki cheezein ho rahi hain (The matter is in the court) and I do not want to discuss that. It has been difficult.” In recent Bigg Boss episode, he was seen talking to Neil Bhatt and Abhishek Kumar about his 5-year-old son. He says, “Six months ago he came to me and now he is here with me. I realised what I was missing and now I have him. Also I have spent around 3-4 months around him. I have started to miss him.”

His harrowing jail experience

Munawar was arrested in 2021 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly making obscene statements about Hindu gods and goddesses during one of his stand-up shows. He had been in jail for 37 days. Recently, when Jigna Vora addressed about her time in jail at the press conference hosted for her, Munawar got teary eyed recalling his experience. In a candid podcast and during Lock Upp, he recalled harrowing experience and shared how he barely got food which was not eatable. He even stated, “There were fights but the fear was that you would get beaten. I also got beaten. It is the jail’s ‘Prashad’, it’s not allowed but they beat you for random reasons.

Sexually assaulted as a child

During Lock Upp, he even opened up about being sexually assaulted. He shared, “I was 6 to 7 years old when I was sexually assaulted. They were relatives. It continued for 4 to 5 years. It was close family and I didn’t understand it then. Fourth year when it went extreme, they realised they should stop. I have never shared this with everyone as I have to face them.”

His mother committed suicide

Munawar mentioned that his mother had died by suicide as she consumed acid. He had stated, “My grandmom took me aside and told me that my mother drank acid. I asked her why were we not telling the doctors and she said ‘hum log problem me aa jaenge (we will be in trouble)’. The stand-up comedian then shared that his mother took a loan of Rs 3500 and she was struggling to pay the debt. Recently, when he launched his music album, he even dedicated a song to his mother titled Mumtaaz as that was her name.

Love life- Break up with Nazila and Anjali Arora having a crush on him

During Lock Upp, Anjali Arora confessed her love for Munawar and their chemistry was even loved by the audience. In December, when Munawar came out of the house, he confessed his relationship with Nazila, who is a model. But, in September 2022 they parted ways.
