Raveena Tandon reveals she is an ‘open book’ to her kids about past relationships

Being a film celebrity comes with its perks and drawbacks. While there are many advantages to it, the biggest fall is the constant scrutiny on your personal life. Dealing with it individually is a differnet thing, but when it comes to your family, you don’t get a say manier times as to how they find out things about your life. However, Raveena Tandon has taken those reins in her own hands when it comes to her past.

Raveena Tandon on being open about her past relationships to her kids

Today, the actress is happily married to husband Anil Thadani and has 4 kids, three daughters and a son. But she also has had her past. In the 90s, Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar were in a relationship. They even got engaged but later broke it off for unknown reasons. Akshay then went on to get married to Twinkle Khanna while Raveena got hitched to Anil.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, the actress revealed that she has discussed it all with her kids. She doesn’t want any secrets between them. And her reason for being upfront about things is also quite valid. She said, “My life’s an open book for them. If not today, tomorrow they will read about it somewhere and they might read something worse because you know how the ’90s press was. It was yellow journalism at its peak. They had no scruples, no morals, no integrity.”

The actress on being called names

Raveena recalled how editors of publications used to unfairly call the shots during the 90s as to what goes. She insisted, “Earlier, we were at the mercy of editors. Whose camp they were in or whom they were buttering up or which hero or heroine was buttering them up, they would only write about them, and their side of the story, without even waiting to find out what the truth was. How they wanted to bring someone down, they would do it.”

She even discussed how she was called names and ridiculed by publications. The actress revealed, “They sl*t shamed, they body shamed, they called you names. There were pet names given to everyone and the more scandalous the story, the worse they would write. I’ve been called so many things, ‘Amazonian’ and ‘thunder thighs’, ‘Ms. Arrogant’, ‘Ms. High and Mighty’, so many.”

She said, “Luckily you have social media where you can put out your case right in front of your fans, right there. Your statement matters. Today there are different mediums and platforms where you can get one-on-one with your fans or your friends, where you can put out what you have.”
