Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are two of the most talented actors in the Hindi film industry today. Even though they debuted three years apart, they have often been compared to each other, owing to their boastful filmography. Karan Johar is one of those few directors who have worked with both of them. And recently, he opened up on what sets them apart.
Karan Johar on the difference between Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh
Karan has directed Ranbir in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ranveer in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. During an interview Mid-Day, the filmmaker was asked about the similarities and distinctions between the two actors. Karan insisted that while their undeniable talent is what binds them together, their work ethics are poles apart.

He raved about Ranbir as he said, “He is the most patient human being I know. You can keep him waiting for 14 hours on set and he won’t say a thing. He does one film at a time and he handles his own dates. There is no PR, there is no manager, there is nobody around him. He is on his own. You ask him for dates, he opens his phone, he has all his own dates. He knows exactly which brands he is doing. He knows his schedules, he knows his days off, he knows his holidays. And he feeds off the filmmaker. He just wants to hang out with the filmmaker and get into the filmmaker’s mind and then deliver”
On the other hand, Karan called Ranveer an ‘energetic force of nature’. He insisted that the actor thrives on the energy around him. And it’s not just the filmmaker he is working with, but also the environment that he seeks inspiration from. Calling Ranveer a director’s actor, Karan said, “If he has a great director, that film will be great.”

Ranbir and Ranveer upcoming films
Both Ranbir and Ranveer are pure bundle of talents. They are arguably the two topmost actors in this generation. Apart from Karan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has also worked with both these actors. This year, both the actor gave successes in the romantic genres. While Ranbir had Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar with Shraddha Kapoor, Ranveer did RRKPK with Alia Bhatt.
Up next, Ranbir has the release of Animal this year. His name has been associated with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana as well, but no official word is out on it yet. As for Ranveer, amongst the announced projects he has Don 3 with Farhan Akhtar. He also has Singham Again with Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, for which he started shoot on Saturday. Ranveer is also rumoured to be a part of SLB’s Baiju Bawra.
