Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao tied the knot in 2015, and announced their separation in 2021. They’re not together as husband and wife, but they continue to remain good friends and co-parent their son Azad Rao Khan. A few days ago, Aamir was spotted with Kiran at an event. And well, that just proved that they share a great bond. Now, in a recent interview, filmmaker Kiran Rao opened up about her divorce with ex-husband Aamir Khan for the first time.

Speaking with Film Companion, Kiran called Aamir a ‘great support’. For the uninitiated, Aamir is producing Kiran’s upcoming directorial film Laapataa Ladies. Speaking of that, Kiran said, “We wouldn’t have this film without it (Aamir’s support), because he found the script, and he offered it to me to direct, which was incredibly fortuitous for me.”
On the other hand, the filmmaker stated that she never had trauma in any of her relationships. She said, “A lot of the issues we’ve tackled in the film in some way, we’ve all experienced. I’ve been very fortunate because in all my relationships I have never had trauma. I’ve had very loving relationships in my life, and continue to have them. The idea was to show how, within the constructs of marriage, within socially-normative relationships, you can still find your freedom, you can still find who you are, and you can reach for something that fulfils your potential, and I’ve experienced that myself.”

Adding to that, Kiran revealed that she shares a ‘wonderful’ relationship with her ex-husband. She also mentioned that the entire family including Aamir is very supportive of her.
Talking about Laapataa Ladies, it is slated to release on 5th January, 2024. On the other hand, Aamir is currently on an acting break. He was last seen in Advait Chandan’s Laal Singh Chaddha which also starred alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh.
As per latest reports, Aamir Khan to reunite with Andaz Apna Apna director Rajkumar Santoshi after 30 years for his 2024 release. The actor is yet to make an official statement. There are reports
