The audience has been loving the aura of Salman Khan on screen for over 3 decades now. The actor has emerged as one of the biggest superstars that Indian cinema has ever seen. And that success story started right for his first film as a leading man, Maine Pyar Kiya. But as it turns out, had the film’s fate been different, this flourishing acting career might have not existed.
Salman Khan planned to turn director
Yes, you heard it right. Depending on how Maine Pyar Kiya fares, Salman Khan had decided to choose between being an actor or a director. Actor Saahil Chaddha, who acted with Salman in Baghban, recently revealed the superstar’s direction plans in an interview with Bollywood Thikana.

Sahil recalled meeting Salman at an office before the release of Maine Pyar Kiya. He shared, “He said my film Maine Pyar Kiya is coming. He said if my film works then I am an actor, otherwise I’ll be a director.” And it wasn’t in just a whim. Salman had a script he was working on, so he was quite serious about his direction plans. He even offered Saahil the lead role in it. He revealed, “Salman said I’m working on a film script and I have been trying to get Aamir (Khan) to listen to it but he doesn’t want to. It’s the story of two friends, Mohnish Bahl and you.”
After effects of Maine Pyar Kiya success…
Saahil immediately said yes to do the film when Salman narrated the story to him. However, Maine Pyar Kiya released and became a humongous success. It launched the career of Salman and Bhagyashree and both became superstars. Saahil recalled meeting Salman after the film’s success. Revealing details about their conversation, he shared, “I said ‘Congratulations, meri film kahan hai? He said ‘Time kahan hai yaar?’ (I said ‘Congratulations, where is my film?’ He said, ‘Where is the time?’).”

Thankfully, Maine Pyar Kiya worked otherwise we wouldn’t have witnessed one of the biggest stardoms in Indian film industry. Salman went on to become more than an actor, a brand in himself. He also turned a producer with Salman Khan Films, under which he nurtures many new talents as well.
Salman Khan upcoming movies
On the professional front, Salman is gearing up for a big Diwali release with Tiger 3. The fourth film in YRF Spy Universe will see Salman reunite with Katrina Kaif and is directed by Maneesh Sharma. Apart from that, the actor is rumoured to be a part of many films including a reunion with Sooraj Barjatya. He also reportedly returns to spy universe for Tiger Vs Pathaan, which will also star Shah Rukh Khan.
