Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are truly a golden couple of Bollywood. Now they have achieved that milestone in real life too as they celebrated their 50th ‘golden’ anniversary on June 3. Celebrating that, daughter Shweta Bachchan shared an adorable throwback pic of parents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

Taking to Instagram, Shweta shared a pic of her parents from their younger days. Big B looks so thin and lanky in his clean shaven look paired with a floral shirt and white trousers. Whereas Jaya ji is a dream in her saree radiating glow from her face as they both look adorably in each other’s eyes with a smile.

Along with it, Shweta penned a heartfelt note for her parents, calling them ‘golden’. She wrote, “Happy 50th parents ~ now you’re “Golden” once on being asked what the secret to a long marriage is, my mother answered – love, and I think my fathers was – the wife is always right.That’s the long & short of it!! (sic).” When Zoya Akhtar took to the comments to wish the couple, Shweta revealed that it is indeed the filmmaker who gave her the picture.

Amitabh Bachchan’s note on 50th anniversary

Before the day of his golden anniversary started, Bachchan sr took to his blog to share a note for all the wishes pouring in. He wrote, “June 3 dawns in a few .. and the years be counted as 50 .. love respect and gratitude for the wishes , that have come and perhaps shall come .. (sic)”.

Big B and Jaya ji had a beautfiul wedding on June 3, 1973. Bachchan ji was 30 at that time. The couple have two kids, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan. Shweta is married to businessman Nikhil Nanda and have two kids Navya Naveli and Agastya Nanda. Abhishek is married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and they have a daughter Aaradhya Bachchan.

Bachchan ji has numerous films in his kitty in different stages of production. He has Project K with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, followed by Section 84. He also has The Intern Remake with Deepika again. Jaya ji will be making her comeback on screen this year in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh along with Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi.
