Former Quantum Leap star Dean Stockwell is no more. He passed on the early morning of November 7, peacefully, at home, due to natural causes. A representative for the family confirmed the news about Dean Stockwell's demise to Deadline. He was 85. Stockwell was nominated for an Oscar Award and an Emmy Award as well. The actor was known for his performance as Al in the sc-fi series titled Quantum Leap. The actor even featured in David Lynch’s Blue Velvet, Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas and Jonathan Demme’s Married to the Mob.

Born on March 5, 1936, in North Hollywood, Stockwell started his career at the age of 7 as a child actor. He appeared in Anchors Aweigh with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly, Gentleman's Agreement which got him his Golden Globe Award.

It was with the TV Series Quantum Leap that Stockwell delivered a signature performance. The actor played the role of Admiral Al Calavicci opposite Scott Bakula. He went on to bag four Emmy nominations and Golden Globe Award for the role he portrayed in the TV series.

Quantum Leap actor Scott Bakula, a co-star of Stockwell, reacted to the news of his death. Bakula shared a picture of Stockwell and penned a long emotional note, grieving the loss of his dear friend. He said, "I loved him dearly and was honoured to know him. He made me a better human being." Bakula called Dean a "passionate man", a "dear friend and a mentor". He revealed that they grew very close over the next five, very intense years.

Dean Stockwell is survived by his wife, Joy Stockwell and their two kids, Austin Stockwell and Sophie Stockwell.
