“Obsession,” a new British miniseries set to be released in March 2022 on Netflix UK and produced by Guamont UK and Moonage Pictures, is an erotic thriller directed by Glenn Leyburn & Lisa Barros D’Sa (Ordinary Love; Good Vibrations) with Morgan Lloyd-Malcolm & Benji Walters writing the scripts. It’s based on Josephine Hart‘s 1991 novel of the same name – previously adapted into a live-action feature film from Warner Brothers starring Jeremy Irons & Juliette Binoche back in 1992.

The series stars Richard Armitage as William – a doctor whose passionate affair with his son’s fiancée Anna disrupts their lives forever even though she tries desperately to keep both relationships alive at once without getting caught. Indira Varma stars alongside them as William’s unsuspecting wife, Ingrid, who must eventually come face-to-face with her husband’s obsession.

The classic ’80s thriller is being rebooted for Paramount Plus, this time with Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan as Dan Gallagher and Alex Forrest. Alexandra Cunningham of “Dirty John” fame serves as the showrunner, bringing a fresh perspective on the themes explored in the film, such as infidelity, marriage dynamics, coercive control, and attitudes toward strong women. Directing duties are handled by Silver Tree over three episodes that will be available to stream at launch while Amanda Peet stars alongside Toby Huss, Reno Wilson, and Brian Goodman, creating an exciting new all-star cast promised to bring out riveting performances when it premieres later this month. From its title alone, we know “Fatal Attraction” won’t shy away from exploring even darker sides of relationships—romantic ones between lovers and within marriages.
