Looking forward to The Mandalorian & Grogu release date? The first Star Wars film since 2019’s divisive The Rise of Skywalker was announced in early 2024, with a fast-tracked production. It’s important to take note of the fact that Disney purposefully did not mention a release year in the announcement post for The Mandalorian & Grogu. Since the 2024 production window is purposefully vague, it means a speedy production could see it land in the latter stages of 2025. On the contrary, it also leaves leeway for a 2026 release if things take longer than expected. Interestingly, Disney has an untitled Star Wars film slated for a May 22, 2026 release, which fits perfectly for The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Of course, one thing working in the favour of a 2025 release date is the amount of existing production work already done in three seasons of The Mandalorian. All the main cast are already established, and the world-beating VFX team at Industrial Light & Magic has tech like the Volume already attuned to the show’s specific visual style. As such, it could well be a case of slipping right back into old habits when The Mandalorian & Grogu goes into production.

However, the most recent Star Wars films since the Disney merger have almost all suffered delays during production, and we cannot rule The Mandalorian & Grogu out from that. The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story all moves from their original release dates, so it’s never out of the question. Delays are more common than ever in Hollywood these days, so if The Mandalorian & Grogu does suffer any problems in production, it’s not an unlikely course of action.
