Sullivan’s Crossing Series 2 Episode 3 Recap

Confessions – As the episode opens, Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) and Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray) arrive at the hospital where firemen are investigating a fire alarm. Connie Boyle (Lauren Hammersley) alerts Rafe Vadas (Dakota Taylor) that someone lit a cigarette in a patient’s room. Pointing at a radiographic image of Harry Sully’s Sullivan’s (Scott Patterson) brain, Maggie says it is a slight volume deficit in the cerebral cortex. She adds that Sully’s albumin level is low and his liver enzymes are elevated. Sully has Wernicke encephalopathy, a condition common in alcoholics, caused by vitamin B1 deficiency. A nurse informs Dr. Rabney (Sharleen Kalayil) that Sully left the hospital with another man. Hearing the description, Cal suggests it was Frank Cranebear (Tom Jackson).

Instead of returning to the outpost, Frank and Sully go fishing. Elsewhere, Lola Gunderson (Amalia Williamson) informs Edna Cranebear (Andrea Menard) that she is going to delve into her accident with Cal’s help. Edna questions if she is doing the right thing. Lola suggests finding the person responsible may help her. Back on the road, Frank threatens to return Sully to the hospital if he refuses to contact Edna and Maggie. Utilizing the radio, Sully tells Edna about their fishing plans. When she demands they come home, he pretends to lose signal. A short time later, Cal and Maggie arrive looking for them. Edna tells her about their fishing trip. No cellphone or radio, Sully and Frank are out of reach. Maggie updates them on Sully’s condition when a hurricane alert rings across their phones.

Hurricane preparation is underway at the fire department. At the outpost, Sydney Shandon (Lindura), Edna, Cal, and Lola put their worries to the side and prepare the outpost for the hurricane. Sully and Frank arrive at the cabin. Frank says a storm is coming but Sully is not so sure. Elsewhere, Cal and Maggie warn Pete (Joel Thomas Hynes) about the hurricane. Pete says his camper is his home. Cal briefly talks about his father when Maggie gets a call from Andrew Mathews (Allan Hawco) trying to get her to come home. Refusing to leave, she tells him that Sully has Wernicke’s. He seems surprised by Sully’s drinking problem. Cal speaks to her before leaving to warn the campers. Andrew asks who she is talking to. She says Cal is helping with the hurricane preparations and will be living there permanently.

Sully is none too thrilled with Frank’s meal plan, bone broth. Frank explains how it cleanses the brain. Elsewhere, Lola tells Cal that Sully has always been there for her and suggests he treats everyone like family because he was abandoned by his family. After they walk away, Maggie emerges from the shed. Connie gives newcomer, Alyssa Mackenzie some hurricane tips. Lola invites John (Sebastien Labelle) and Ellis (Bri Neal) to stay with her until the storm is over. Finding the generator propane tank empty, Sydney calls Rob Shandon (Reid Price) to request a replacement be dropped off at the outpost. Before ending the call, she asks about Finn Shandon (Zayn Maloney). He assures her that he can take care of Finn.

In a flashback, Sully apologizes to Maggie for waiting to tell her that he is proud of her. Back to the present, Sydney stops Maggie from picking up a chair because she is pregnant. After assuring her that she can handle it, Maggie tells her about overhearing Lola saying she abandoned Sully. She admits to believing he didn’t care enough to come after her until she found his collection of her photos and newspaper clippings. Maggie questions how Sully felt about her shunning him. Sydney says she is here now.

Sully voices concern about ending up like his father. Frank explains how difficult it was growing up as a multiracial boy in Alberta. He says moving to the city was no better and when he returned to Alberta, nothing had changed. He claims the regalia that belonged to his mother was gone and he didn’t have the heart to tell Edna.

Edna complains about Frank leaving without telling him. Maggie tells her that she is aware of Sully’s drinking problem. Edna says his sponsor was Frank. Maggie questions if she is the blame for his drinking again. Edna assures her that no one is to blame but Sully. Elsewhere, Frank urges Sully to let his inner light guide him. Sully reluctantly closes his eyes.

Ellis tells Lola about her and John’s first meeting when she needed help with a flat tire. John claims it changed his life when she asked him out. Lola denies having a boyfriend but hopes that will change soon when Cal arrives to strap down her lawn furniture. Elsewhere, Sully recalls his separation from young Maggie Sullivan (Polly Gallant-Mclean and her mother. As an adult, Maggie asks why she was never good enough for him. He walks away with Frank in tow.

As the storm picks up, Connie finds Alysa suffering an ankle injury. Elsewhere, Sydney warns Maggie that one of the campers is refusing to leave. Maggie says it is Pete before heading out into the storm. Edna informs Sydney that Rob hasn’t dropped off the propane. Cellular service and landline are out.

After assessing Alysa’s ankle, Connie determines it isn’t fractured. While Connie wraps her ankle, Alysa claims to have stayed because her money is wrapped up in the place. Connie assures her it isn’t worth her life before offering to take her home. Alysa accepts the offer. Elsewhere, Sully complains about feeling ill. Frank rushes out to get his truck.

Maggie finds Pete confused and frightened. When she says Molly’s name, he realizes it is Nova Scotia, not Afghanistan. She stresses the need for them to return to the outpost. Elsewhere, Frank’s truck won’t start and there is no radio signal.

Cal returns to the outpost right before the power goes out. Edna and Sydney gather the lanterns. Elsewhere, Molly gets spooked by the storm. Pete and Maggie pursue Molly into the woods.

Sully searches the cabin for water but finds a bottle of alcohol instead. He puts the bottle to his mouth when he recalls hitting Lola with his vehicle. He smashes the bottle on the floor. Elsewhere, Sydney returns to the outpost to find Rob and Finn. Rob says Rafe found them stuck in the mud with the propane. She thanks Rafe before taking Finn to change his wet clothes. Connie alerts Rafe that the hurricane has been upgraded to a Category 2. Cal and Rafe head out into the storm to search for Pete and Maggie.

Frank returns to the cabin to find the broken alcohol bottle scattered across the floor. He says the truck won’t start. Sully confesses to hitting Lola on her bike. Elsewhere, Maggie is looking for Pete and Molly when something happens to cause her to scream. Cal calls her name from a short distance away. The episode ends.
