Davey & Jonesie’s Locker Series 1 Episode 8 Recap

Into The Schneiderverse – As this episode begins, Cheryl (Emily Piggford) is busy looking for anomalies. Andy (James Hartnett) comes in with cake since it’s Simon’s 170th birthday. Cheryl didn’t get to where she is by making friends. Andy offers to take over the case for her. Cheryl refuses and disappears. Mr. Schneider (Dan Beirne) complains about Davey (Veronika Slowikowska) and Jonesie (Jaelynn Thora Brooks) causing another anomaly. The Schneiders agree that they cannot go on like this. They call Davey and Jonesie burdens. The Schneiders are even thinking about turning them in. Cheryl enters the room and realizes Schneider has found a way to communicate with his other selves across universes.

It’s the final piece of evidence she needs to complete her case against him. Before Cheryl can zap them, Mark (Parker Lauzon) catches Cheryl because they hunt women in this universe. The girls run with the remote in hopes of turning on the portal. They make it into the portal. Once they exit, Jonesie wonders if it’s a problem that she went through with the remote. Then, they learn that people celebrate Schneider in this universe. In Universe 9999, Schneider welcomes them to his paradise. He explains that a version of him was sent to this world when he was de-synced. Another teacher caught him on a call with the other Schneiders and thought he was doing black magic. He’s rewarded them with modern medicine and other things.

Schneider built a signal jammer to ensure they’re not on MOM’s radar. He thinks they were only able to reach this universe because they have the remote. They talk about how he’s different than the others. Schneider invites them to stay there for the day as his personal guests. They spend the day together while Sierra (Erika Swayze) serves them. Davey and the others agree they had fun. However, Davey and Jonesie are concerned when they notice that the portal is blocked. Schneider explains he can’t have them running off and blabbering to the others. He tells them they’re never leaving so they shouldn’t ask again. Davey and Jonesie pretend to love it there, but they want to say goodbye to their old lives. When they’re alone, they think the other Schneiders could help if they knew they were trapped.

They wonder how they’ll convince Schneider to turn on his holograms. Before long, they manage to convince him to speak to the other Schneiders. He takes them to the lab and speaks to the holograms. The girls try to send a message to the others. The cool Schneider says he is going to build a new device and purge the multiverse of their inferiority. After the call, Davey and Jonesie try to talk Schneider out of killing the others. They are unable to change his mind. Schneider has them taken away. Andy learns about what happened to Cheryl. He says the girls caused quite a stir, but he didn’t write down where the anomalies were. Davey and Jonesie are put to work. They talk about the other Schneiders and their good moments.

They begin discussing how they can stop this Schneider and save the others. They just need the one person who hates Schneider. They agree to use Cheryl to stop him. When Mark gets bitten by a rat, Sierra argues he should be sacrificed. Davey and Jonesie realize how superstitious people are there. They use that to turn everyone against Schneider. Sierra and the others chase him out of the lab believing he is a witch. Davey and Jonesie tell Cheryl what Schneider is going to do. Cheryl goes out to deal with it while Davey and Jonesie contact the other Schneiders. They tell Davey and Jonesie that they managed to boot up the portal for them remotely so they need to leave now. Cheryl approaches Schneider who has created a device to kill the others.

He wonders why she wouldn’t want that before she shoots him. Cheryl runs to the portal just in time to see Davey and Jonesie walk through it. Andy realizes Cheryl lost them again. She receives a summons from the Performance Review Committee. In her drawer, she has a picture of herself with Schneider. His eyes have been blacked out.

Davey & Jonesie’s Locker Review

This episode of Davey & Jonesie’s Locker was okay although the series was probably a few episodes too long. With so many episodes, it feels like stories are being rehashed and the characters are becoming a bit too obnoxious. There are some good points throughout the series though. For instance, Dan Beirne stands out as being the best of the bunch through eight episodes.

Although the character is slightly annoying, Schneider is versatile and the character works more often than not. If the series had taken itself a bit more seriously, it probably could’ve worked out so much better. After all, the humor rarely hits the target. Instead, it’s usually forced, annoying, or cringe. Plus, some of the performers really need to tone it down. This episode scores a 4.5 out of 10. Recaps of Davey & Jonesie’s Locker can be found on Reel Mockery here.
