You Don’t Belong Here –

Emile (Nikko Angelo Hinayo) joins Davey and Jonesie. Davey and Jonesie tell Emile why they share a locker. Principal Debbie Neighbors (Evany Rosen) approaches them and asks about sharing a locker. She begins telling them what she learned from her recent divorce. Debbie says they’ve become concerned that Davey and Jonesie’s relationship has become codependent. They try to convince her they haven’t been alienating themselves. Mr. Schneider goes through a big demonstration online until he is interrupted by Mark Shirt (Parker Lauzon) who needs the next period off for the dance committee. Schneider tells him it’s okay. He locked Mark out before returning to his speech about reclaiming the multiverse.

In her office, Debbie talks to Davey and Jonesie about putting themselves out there. She forces them to join the decorating committee for the dance tonight. They’re told to check in with Alexis (Alexa Yaphe) and Sierra (Erika Swayze) later. Debbie threatens to separate them and even force one of them to transfer if they don’t cooperate. Once they leave, Davey alleges this is textbook child abuse. They realize they’ll have to do what Debbie wants. Debbie interrupts Mr. Schneider and asks if he was just talking to someone. She reveals she signed him up to chaperone the dance. Steven admits he isn’t interested. Debbie says she’ll be out there too. Sierra yells at Joyce (Sydney Topliffe) and Mark to hang the banner higher. Davey and Jonesie arrive to tell Sierra they want to join the dance committee.

Sierra mentions she is class president. She is reminded she ran unopposed but still lost to Alexis. Once Sierra agrees to let them join the committee, she asks them to go to the store to pick up cups. Jonesie and Davey talk about livening up the dance with one of their protests. During the dance, Sierra keeps complaining about things even though Emile says it’s fine. Davey and Jonesie go backstage to prepare for their protest. Schneider is in his room talking to his virtual selves. He wants them to become one again. When Davey and Jonesie come out in costumes to protest, Emile tells Sierra they should let it play out. They play music and dance. Emile tells Abbott that no one is supposed to get this. Schneider completes the procedure, but he doesn’t notice a portal anywhere.

They try it again while Davey and Jonesie continue dancing. Their locker begins glowing. Davey and Jonesie end up starting a fire. Everyone becomes upset when the fire extinguishers get them wet. Davey and Jonesie rush out and try to make it to their locker before anyone notices it was them. Schneider has already reached their locker. When Davey and Jonesie open the locker, they’re surprised by what they see. They enter the locker to get away from everyone. Something happens. When they exit the locker, everyone is gone. They see Schneider crawling around so they rush back into the locker and repeat the process. At one point, they see Schneider get sawn in half. They run back into the locker before the episode ends.

Davey & Jonesie’s Locker Review

The opening episode of Davey & Jonesie’s Locker set up a somewhat interesting premise that wasn’t all that original despite the craziness of it. However, it is still hard to know exactly what this series is about just based on the first episode. It’s a bit like a mix of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Ernest Goes to School. Unfortunately, the opening episode didn’t have the same charm as those movies.

The last scenes definitely showed the production’s low budget. Although this may be an issue for some, low budget doesn’t always mean bad but it might here. Davey & Jonesie’s Locker is obviously trying to be humorous although it rarely hits that target. The characters aren’t as charming as they could be making it impossible to care whether they get cut in half in an alternate universe. The performances should’ve been toned down a lot considering at least two of the characters are so over-the-top that they’re obnoxious.

Truthfully, I couldn’t see myself watching this in my spare time and likely won’t make it through another episode. It’s clearly not for everyone. Viewers who like the outlandish scenarios and exasperating characters will probably have a better time with it though. The episode scores a 3.5 out of 10.
