As this episode of Allegiance begins, Sabrina (Supinder Wraich) receives a message from Ishaan (Adolyn H. Dar) telling her their dad is coming home. Vince Brambilla (Enrico Colantoni) tells her they need her at the detachment immediately. He says it is urgent. Sabrina asks the man she slept with whether she can borrow some clothes from him. He has an ACAB, All Cops Are Bad, shirt that she obviously can’t wear. Sabrina lies about where she works. He gives her a hoodie instead. At work, Gillian Goode (Melanie Papalia) and Sabrina briefly talk about last night. Gillian doesn’t have a phone charger for her. Ajeet (Stephen Lobo) gets ready to leave the jail. Max Portman (Brian Markinson) picks him up outside.
Luke (Lachlan Quarmby) checks on Sabrina since he believes she is hung over. He reveals they have a manhunt. Ben Collins is back in town. Ben and his brother Noah committed a robbery spree in Whalley seven years ago that ended in a triple homicide. When the father turned them in, Noah was arrested but Ben got away. Vince explains they’re going to Whalley because they’re on front-line poster duty. Max tells Ajeet he’ll have to wear an ankle monitor and he can’t leave his house. His computer use will be monitored remotely. Ajeet wants to focus on winning support back for his bill, but Max thinks he should slow down. Max tells him that Parveen and levelheaded Canadians are with him. Ishaan greets his father outside.
Vince and Sabrina arrive in Whalley to begin putting up the flyers. On a billboard, she finds a flyer about convicted killer Noah Collins being out on parole. Vince tries to speak to Adam’s sister Jasmine. He takes a picture of the upcoming church fundraiser. Vince says they’re not even halfway yet. They check out a call at a nearby store. A man tells them that a random guy wanted his money. The guy pulled out a knife and took the victim’s last 20. He tried to tell the fascist officer who dragged him out. They see the man described and begin chasing him. Asad chases him with a bat and yells it is Noah Collins. Vince stays with him while Sabrina goes after Noah who escapes on a bicycle. Vince asks Asad what he was going to do before realizing they know each other.
Asad has been counting the days until the psycho gets out making sure everyone knows. Then, he got a tip from a shopkeeper who saw Noah at this mall. Asad reminds them this is Whalley so there is a reason he is going to get tipped off before the police. They let him go but advise him to think twice before using his baseball bat. Once he leaves, Vince tells Sabrina that Asad was the only survivor of the triple homicide. Vince claims not to know why Asad has a beef with him. He lets the others know on the radio and suggests Noah and Ben may be planning to rendezvous. Bolton and Gillian work on getting drones up. They send all available units to Whalley to look for the brothers. Sabrina tells Vince about a ravine nearby where they’d sometimes smoke weed.
Once they arrive, she tells him some of her cousins moved away because of police profiling. They find a burning bag containing burner phones and clothes. Vince thinks it is the jacket Ben was wearing at the bus stop. Vince asks for backup at the Whalley Creek Trail. He is informed he’s behind the house belonging to the brothers’ parents. They speak to Mrs. Collins who insists they’d call if their boys showed up. Mrs. Collins and Mr. Collins are told Noah hasn’t reported in with his parole officer. Mr. Collins claims Noah tried to contact them after he was paroled but he told him not to. Sabrina notices wet footprints on the floor so she shows Vince. Denise Collins says they were just cleaning, but Mr. Collins says Noah came by to say goodbye. They’re going to try to make a break across the border.
Denise claims Noah is innocent and Ben is a bad influence. Mr. Collins confirms he owns guns, but they find out that they’re missing. He gives the police a description of the clothes Noah was wearing. Sabrina and Vince hear other officers confronting them before shots are fired. An officer is shot. They rush over and learn that Robin has been shot. Sabrina begins helping another officer tend to Robin. Ajeet watches a news report about the incident. He asks about Sabrina, but Ishaan hasn’t heard from her. When Bolton contacts Sabrina, he learns that Robin lost a lot of blood and is in shock. The bullet missed her neck. Bolton wants Sabrina and Vince knocking on doors. Vince tries to calm Sabrina. He says no one died so it is a good outcome, but they need to make sure the brothers never hurt anyone else.
Other officers grab rifles while Sabrina questions whether those are the right tools. Asad doesn’t want to leave even though there is a stay at home order in place. He argues with Luke until Vince gets involved. Doug Gabinski (Toby Levins) asks Vince if he is giving him any orders. Vince explains he has a history with Asad so he tries to convince him to leave. He tells Asad they’re trying to do right by him. Asad’s friend tries to convince him to go to the church. Doug complains about Asad when he leaves. Sabrina reminds him he survived a lot, but Doug didn’t ask her for his life story. Vince speaks to Doug in private. Luke talks to Sabrina about the injured officer. Before Luke leaves with Doug, he tells Sabrina to stay safe. She tells him the same. Vince and Sabrina get scared when someone sets off fireworks nearby.
A boy yells at them and runs away. Then, they learn the brothers are at the credit union. Vince is told to stay back because it’s a hostage situation. He gets upset and kicks a garbage can. Sabrina asks what it is about this one. Vince reveals he helped Asad onto the ambulance that night. He admits they all hated going to Whalley and it wasn’t his turn. The brothers were on their third robbery. Asad called 911 but no one came. Only the other shopkeepers came. Vince confesses that they blew it. Sabrina suggests calling the number and telling Asad the brothers are surrounded. Vince calls him to tell him. Due to Asad’s behavior, they decide to check on him. However, the brothers already have him at gunpoint. Ben says they swatted themselves and the police took the bait.
Noah asks for the keys to the safe and car. Steve hands them over. Ben yells for everyone to take out their phones and put them on the ground. Noah gets the money from the safe. Sabrina and Luke arrive outside before hearing screaming inside. They call for backup. Asad urges Ben to take the car and leave. He offers to go as a hostage. Vince and Sabrina storm into the church. Noah complains that he did his time, but everyone is still treating him like crap. Asad hits Ben with a baseball bat giving them enough time to arrest him. Asad tells Sabrina to look the over way like they always do. She pleads with him to trust them to finish this. Ben and Noah are arrested. Luke and Doug arrive and learn what happened. They agree to go out for a beer.
Bolton tells Vince and Sabrina that serious crimes need the win so they’re going to take the credit for this. Asad thanks them and gives Vince his baseball bat. Later, Vince and Sabrina talk about the possibility of going hiking. They find graffiti on their car. Sabrina finishes the word “pig”. Vince joins in on the fun. He says they might’ve got five people to trust them today. Sabrina thinks they should play basketball with the people nearby to build trust. Vince tells her to clock out and go be with her dad. He’ll hike home. Vince plays ball with Jasmine. Sabrina goes home to Ajeet. They hug. Ishaan yells that he needs to show them something. He says the Truthbolt Media gremlins found some old clip. It’s a clip of Ajeet saying their nation has supported illegal wars and spied on their own citizens. He says he’s ashamed to be Canadian.
Allegiance Review
The fourth episode of Allegiance was a big improvement over the others, but this one was a step back to the norm. Even with all the issues, the series had the potential to be gripping and even meaningful. One of the biggest problems here is the shallowness of the police force and Sabrina’s constant superhero-like antics. She’s immediately better than everyone else and is always there at the right time.
Heck, Vince and Sabrina seemed to be the only officers in Whalley for much of the episode despite two murderers being on the loose. Every other officer has become a moot point unless Doug is being portrayed as the bad guy. The writing in the series has been agenda-laden tripe from the start and that shows no sign of slowing down. It’s obviously written for people with specific political ideologies and not others including apolitical viewers.
On the other hand, the series is written as if it is set in Detroit, Chicago, or St. Louis where there are hundreds of murders a year. It’s a good thing Sabrina is part of the team because there would be no arrests otherwise. As for Ajeet’s journey, it is more annoying than anything. The show is trying to portray his statements in the video as something radical. In reality, politicians say far worse and no one bats an eyelash.
