The episode opens in a flashback with Angus Speelman (Iain Glen) and a depressed Portia (Nokuthula Ledwaba) entering a church. The pastor briefly stops amid his sermon when they enter. Angus escorts Portia to a pew. Several members glance over at them. He places his hand over hers. After the service, Speelman tells the pastor that Gabriel died. The pastor invites him to tell his success story at a Youth Alive seminar. Later, he is talking to the children when young Reyka (Gabrielle de Gama) enters. When the class ends, he follows a blue car with Reyka and a woman driving. He returns home to tell Portia about 12-year-old Reyka who is bi-racial. She says like one of their own before thanking him.

Back to the present, a frantic Reyka Gama (Kim Engelbrecht) pulls Portia out of the tub. She calls Speelman to ask if he killed Portia who is wearing a promise ring. He claims she was alive when he left. She says Portia loved him, so why kill her. She offers to pick him up. He tells her that she will never have to see him again before ending the call. A man approaches Speelman and suggests he stay at Palm Bay Hotel where cops never go inside.

Ayanda (Samkelo Ndlovu) receives confirmation that the body on the beach is that of Casey Hoffman (Jessie Diepeveen). She notifies Sergeant Manthonsi of the Missing Persons Unit. He tells her that Casey was reported missing two years ago. Later, Ayanda investigates Portia’s death. Reyka suggests Portia overdosed. Ayanda says Speelman could have forced her to swallow the pills. Reyka points out that the evidence supports suicide. Ayanda asks if she is defending him. Reyka assures her that he is a pedophile, not a killer who gives his victims a promise ring. Brigadier Francke (Zane Meas) calls to alert them of an authorized raid at Lover’s Lane.

Harbor Police Station – Reyka tries to convince Francke to not raid Lover’s Lane. He says the mayor wants everyone who fits the killer’s profile arrested tonight. She warns that the killer will move closer to the Water Summit site. He stresses the need for results. She asks if he has reason to doubt her. He says everyone knows her head is gone. She assures him that the raid will ruin everything.

Palm Bay Hotel – A man insists Speelman take a sex worker. Speelman asks to be left alone while he mourns a close death. Reyka talks herself out of stopping for a drink. Ayanda arrives home to find Zwelethu (Pallance Dladla) and Zoe (Trudy Van Rody) playing video games. She asks them to leave. He tells her to chill before smoking weed. She asks them to leave. Reyka is none too happy when she finds Jodi at her house with Elsa (Anna-Mart Van Der Merwe). She orders her to go back to the shelter. Elsa tells her that Jodi needs help. Reyka informs her of Portia’s suicide before storming off to her room.

Zwelethu apologizes to Ayanda about Zoe. She expresses her desire to relax when she comes home after working day and night. While massaging her leg, he asks about her day. She tells him about Lover’s Lane victim, Casey. He records them while they have sex.

The Lover’s Lane killer stares in the window of a shoe shop. Two boys steal some shoes. The shop owner chases them out with a wooden paddle. The killer walks away.

Sunshine Children’s Shelter – Speelman asks a woman for information on his son, Gabriel Gigaba. She asks why he gave him up. Getting a glimpse of Elsa, he slips out the door. Reyka receives a call from Speelman asking about Portia. She tells him that Portia took her own life. He claims to want to turn himself in but she must help him locate Gabriel. The woman from the shelter notifies Zwelethu of Speelman asking about Tokkie (Gabriel). She says he scares her too. Jodi listens from the steps.

Georgina Lombard (Roeline Daneel) tells Reyka that Leon Lombard (Frank Rautenbach) must have cared enough about her to hurt his family. Reyka claims he never said anything to her about his feelings. Georgina asks if he planned to leave his family. Reyka denies knowing they had sons because he never spoke about them or her. After Georgina leaves, Elsa asks Reyka if she knew about Leon’s children. Reyka assures her that she wouldn’t have gotten involved with him if she had known. Elsa tells her that she is attracted to father figures because of Speelman. She asks if she has been in contact with him. Reyka says yes.

Detective Nick Tanner (Gerald Steyn) takes a description of the thieves from the shoe shop owner and his daughter. She calls the police “useless” as he walks out the door. Reyka learns Gabriel was assumed dead in 1990.

Speelman returns to his room to find a sex worker, Lala, on his bed. The pimp (Raymond Mkhize) offers her services at a discount. Speelman tells him that he isn’t interested. The pimp orders him to pay. Speelman offers him R250. The pimp assaults him and demands the PIN for Portia’s bank card. Speelman denies knowing it. The pimp says he better have it by tomorrow morning.

After being out with Zoe, Zwelethu returns to Ayanda’s high. Elsa asks Reyka if she is okay with Richard (Patrick Lyster) staying a few days. Reyka tells her to do what she wants. Ayanda is getting ready for work with Zwelethu’s phone rings. She learns he shared a video of them having sex on social media. Speelman flees from the hotel with the pimp in tow. Ayanda finds photos of men’s shoes on Zwelethu’s phone.

Speelman meets Reyka at Shaka Marine World. He refuses to let her see his face. She tells him that Dr. Lawrence (Wayne Van Rooyen) warned her about him. He assures her that he would never hurt her but her lies made him look weak. She reminds him of what he told her about Shirley touching him. He demands she not talk about her. She asks who is Gabriel. He says Gabriel was his and Portia’s boy. He admits to abandoning him because he would not stop crying. She says he is dead. He flees. A pursuit ensues. Outside, she watches him hurry away.

The shop owner finds the killer inside his shop with a pair of shoes. Armed with an object, he threatens to call the police. The killer hits him and takes his weapon. A woman screams when she sees the killer beating her father. The killer flees as the episode ends.

Reyka Review

Ayanda learns Zwelethu recorded them having sex and shared the video on social media. She finds photos of what appears to be shoes belonging to one of the Lover’s Lane victims.

Speelman vows to turn himself in if Reyka finds out what happened to Gabriel. Police records reveal he died in the 90s. When she tells him, he flees.

A shoe shop is being targeted by random thieves. The owner and his daughter filed police reports to no avail. The owner finds the Lover’s Lane killer inside his shop and threatens to call the police. The killer brutally assaults him when the daughter approaches.

A representative from the Sunshine Children’s Home refers to Gabriel as Tokkie. She notifies Zwelethu of Speelman seeking information on Tokkie.
