The Road To Hell – The episode opens in Lincoln County, New Mexico on July 19, 1878. William H. Bonney/Billy The Kid (Tom Blyth), Johnny, and Charlie Bowdre (Horatio James) are under attack by the Murphy gang. Armed with two pistols, Billy emerges from the burning house firing.

One Year Earlier, Tunstall’s Ranch, Lincoln County – John Tunstall (Linus Roache) says they are now at war with the House and Major Murphy (Vincent Walsh). A man claims to have heard rumors of Murphy hiring more gunslingers. Tunstall introduces them to John Middleton (Tom Carey), Fred Waite (Josh Cruddas), and Juan Patron (Javier Lacroix), the Hispanic leader. He appoints Billy his second-in-command. Billy recommends Dick Brewer (Reilly Dolman), instead of himself as Tunstall’s right-hand man. Accepting Billy’s recommendation, Tunstall informs them of his plan to open a bank in Lincoln and expand his store. Alexander McSween (Luke Camilleri) reminds them that they are not only up against Murphy but also the House and the Santa Fe Ring. Billy tells Tunstall that he appreciates his offer but Brewer should be his right-hand man.

Murphy says Jesse Evans (Daniel Webber) went too far when he killed the farmers. He believes Jesse is ruining his reputation. Johnny Riley (Shaun Benson) warns that Tunstall is trying to break them. Murphy assures him that he could easily destroy Tunstall. Jim Dolan (Chad Rook) reminds him that they bought him out and their business is near to bankruptcy. Riley says Billy The Kid is working with Tunstall. Murphy tells them that he doesn’t want a war. Dolan claims Tunstall plans to build a bank in Lincoln, which will not set well with Catron Bank & Trust President Thomas Catron (David Cubitt). Murphy questions why Tunstall would want to open a bank in Lincoln where the Mexican population is poor.

Billy and Dulcinea Del Tobosco (Nuria Vega) go out for a ride. He questions how her parents feel about him no longer being an outlaw. She says her parents are stuck in the past but it is best to accept the new way of life. She voices concern about the impending war between Tunstall and Murphy. He vows to keep her safe. At her family’s place, Dulcinea and her Andalusian horse put on a demonstration for Billy.

Frank Baker (Ian Tracey) introduces Buckshot Roberts (Mark Krysko) to Tiley and Dolan. Riley claims Murphy doesn’t want to be dragged into a war with Tunstall. Jesse suggests raiding Tunstall’s because he knows where his cattle and horses are stored. Accepting his suggestion, Riley urges him to hold off for a while. Jesse argues but Riley says Murphy doesn’t want to encourage Tunstall.

Billy warns Charlie, whose wife is pregnant, that it could get messy between Tunstall and the House. Charlie refuses to walk away. Later, Manuela Bowdre (Veronica Long) voices concern about dealing with a child who will never meet its father. She describes Charlie as looking like a soldier. Elsewhere, Tunstall appreciates the sacrifices Billy made to work for him. Billy assures him that he is not like Jesse who likes breaking the law.

Catron’s son-in-law, Edgar Walz (Matthijs Van De Sande Bakhuyzen) tells Riley and Dolan that Catron has concerns about the House’s financial status. He says Catron questions why they allowed Tunstall to open a bank in Lincoln. He threatens to have them removed if they do not stop Tunstall. Later, Riley and Dolan demand Murphy retire. Murphy refuses to leave his business for them to run. Riley calls him a “useless and pathetic drunk”. He pulls a gun on Murphy but shoots Dolan in the head.

Riley informs Saturnino Baca (Zac Santiago) and other members of the House of Dolan’s death. He vows to take care of Tunstall. Later, he orders Jesse to attack Tunstall’s herd while he is in Las Vegas. Jesse claims it is stored at Dick Brewer’s ranch in Ruidoso. Jesse and Ana Baca (Jasmine Vega) are getting intimate when Saturnino bursts into the room. He threatens to kill Jesse for violating Ana. Murphy intervenes to prevent a death. When Saturnino puts his gun away, Jesse fires a shot into the floor near his feet and warns him to never point his gun at him again.

Tunstall believes Dolan’s suicide validates the House’s dire financial situation. Alexander McSween (Luke Camilleri) explains how price fixing of cattle and grain has pushed farmers into extreme poverty. He informs them that a lawsuit has been filed against the House. Bob Olinger (Sean Owen Roberts) announces his new position as the Deputy Sheriff. George Coe (Brendan Fletcher) tells Billy that he believes Tunstall can win the war. Billy says Jesse and his men give the House the advantage but he supports Tunstall’s cause. Tunstall asks Billy to try to convince Jesse to stop working for Murphy.

Dick Brewer’s Ranch – Billy and Charlie are cleaning the stalls when Tom O’Folliard (Pepe Johnson) approaches asking if he can join Billy’s gang. After telling him that he no longer has a gang, Billy urges Tom to go home. As Tom starts to leave, Billy offers him some food. While eating, Tom denies having a home because his stepfather beat his mother to death. Billy agrees to teach him about ranching.

Billy and Charlie arrive in town to see Dulcinea and a man getting in a carriage. Charlie says she is engaged to be married. Elsewhere, McSween informs Judge Wilson (David LeReaney) of his plan to fight the House in court. Wilson explains how his fight against the House resulted in his son being murdered. Wilson agrees to help him take down the Rings.

Billy tries to convince Jesse to leave Murphy’s gang. Jesse asks if Tunstall sent him before reaching for his gun. The men draw at about the same time. Jesse urges Billy to shoot him in the head but Billy rides away.

Santa Fe, New Mexico – Walz tells Catron that Riley and Dolan guarantee Turnstall’s bank will close soon. He informs him of Dolan. Catron orders him into Billy The Kid.

Billy attributes Old Moss (Timothy Webber) to his being alive. He tells Old Moss that he is trying to make his mother proud by getting a decent job. Old Moss says things don’t always end like you want them to before disappearing. The episode ends.

Billy The Kid Synopsis

Tunstall is set to open a bank in Lincoln. With Murphy incapacitated, Catron relies on Dolan and Riley to make the bank go away. Dolan tries to remove Murphy from the House but Riley kills him. Riley tells Jesse to kill Tunstall’s cattle and horses.

Tunstall appoints Billy to be his right-hand man. Billy urges him to give the position to Brewer. Knowing Jesse is a threat to their cause, Tunstall convinces Billy to ask him to leave Murphy’s gang. Billy does as he asks but Jesse refuses to budge.

Billy sees Dulcinea get into a carriage with a man. Charlie tells him that she is engaged. Bob Olinger is the new Deputy Sheriff.

Tunstall hires McSween to fight the House in court. McSween asks Judge Wilson to help Tunstall’s mission to expose Murphy. Wilson blames his son’s murder on the Rings. He agrees to help him.

Frank hires Buckshot Roberts, a sharpshooter, to help take down Tunstall.

Catron orders Walz to investigate Billy The Kid.

Billy The Kid Review

The slow pace makes for a boring episode. The content is a bit repetitive, with very few developments. The cast is oversaturated. Over half of the cast members don’t get any screen time.

The cinematography and camerawork need significant improvement. The acting is decent.
