Rockabye – As the episode opens, Anna Victoria Alcott (Emma Roberts) watches CCTV footage of her husband leaving at 11:02pm and returning at 11:19pm with dog food. The detective (Tommy Nohilly) points out that the girl was not seen entering or exiting the building all night. Anna suggests the girl was hiding inside the building. The detective claims the stairwells and basement were cleared. Dexter Harding Jr. (Matt Czuchry) explains what happened leading up to him running out for dog food and returning to find the house a mess. A detective (Sinorice Moss) brings up the torn embryo image. Anna demands the photo remain private, other than the investigation. The detective questions if it was a prank since the dog didn’t bark. A detective asks if she remembers how the lipstick got on her hands. She claims it was a “blur.” The detective suggests the progesterone suppositories caused her to hallucinate. Dexter assures him that Anna is telling the truth.

Anna arrives at work to a round of cheers from her coworkers. Siobhan Corbyn (Kim Kardashian) announces she has been nominated for a Gotham Award. She assures Anna that her Oscar nomination is in the bag. Snapping a group selfie, Siobhan tells Anna to post it to Instagram ASAP. Anna expressed the need to abandon Instagram because of a stalker. Derek (Ryan Spahn) says that means she is “hot.” Alone, Siobhan urges her to pull herself together before ranting about the work her staff put in to secure her a Gotham Award nomination. Anna’s apology is cut off by Siobhan’s continued rant. Placing a vial of B12 on the desk, Siobhan tells her to take it before giving a container with five more vials. Anna reluctantly asks if it is safe for pregnant women. Siobhan asks if she would do anything to harm her. Anna ingests the B12 liquid in one gulp.

In the restroom, Anna vomits up the B12. Back at her office, she calls Riverside Fertility to reach Cora (Tavi Gevinson) who asks for an update on her stalker. Anna asks how she found out. Cora claims she told her during a phone conversation about pregnancy tests. Anna tells her that Io Preecher (Julie White) is possibly following her. Cora suggests Preecher doesn’t have the mental capacity before redirecting the call to Dr. Andrew Hill (Denis O’Hare). Anna tells him that she vomited. He urges her to wait 11 more days, 14 days after her embryo transfer, to take a pregnancy test.

Reviewing her Instagram comments, Anna discovers a warning and her photo from the fertility from Preecher. Anna clicks on her profile to see several conspiracy theory posts when Dexter gently grabs her around the waist. She stabs him in the cheek before realizing it is him. As she prepares to go for Neosporin, he hands her a pregnancy test. She says it is still too soon. He points at the calendar to see it has been 14 days since her embryo transfer. A short time later, the pregnancy test is positive. They celebrate when he receives a call from Sonia Shawcross/Adeline Harding (Annabelle Dexter-Jones). He claims they have been discussing a Hamptons pop-up show.

Riverside Fertility Clinic – Hill points out the fetal pole on the ultrasound. He urges her to avoid all stress. Later, Siobhan gets the dress Madonna wore at the 1991 Oscars from the Paper Baby Princess. After putting on the dress, Anna and Siobhan admire her in the mirror. While singing “Sooner or Later” by Madonna and dancing, the mirror cracks.

The Gotham Awards – Anna poses for photos. When Babette Eno (Taylor Richardson) enters the stage, the photographers direct their cameras toward her. Approaching Anna, Babetto attributes her being there to “Summer Day.” The women pose for a photo together. Later, Hamish Moss (Dominic Burgess) asks Dexter how Anna keeps getting hotter. Siobhan accuses him of trivializing Anna’s work before reminding him of how she saved his film. Laughing, he claims everyone in Hollywood fears Siobhan. He asks about Anna’s stalking situation. Dexter asks Siobhan if it was her who told him. Referring to Hamish as an “a**hole,” Siobhan denies knowing him very well. Hamish says he understands Anna’s Andy Cohen interview was pulled. Anna demands he not “placate” her before excusing herself. In the restroom, Anna is approached by an excited fan (Ashlie Atkinson) who asks for a picture. When Anna vomits, the woman places her hand on her stomach. Screaming at the woman to not touch her baby, Anna shoves her backward. The woman is knocked out when she hits her head on the sink. A man knocks on the door to alert Anna that her category is soon to be announced.

Leaving the injured woman on the restroom floor, Anna returns to the ceremony in time for The Gotham Awards host (Zachary Quinto) to announce her as winner of “The Gotham Award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Motion Picture.” After accepting the award, Anna prepares to give a speech when the fan from the restroom claps. She looks in the audience to see Dexter and Sonia kissing. She coughs up a dark liquid. When a woman approaches the restroom, she orders her to not go in before collapsing. Later, Anna comes through on a gurney asking about the fan. The paramedic (Tony Von Halle) administers a sedative.

Siobhan tells Anna that she is dehydrated. Anna asks if anything was found in the restroom. Siobhan says the paramedic believes she was hallucinating. Anna assures her that she blew her chance to win an Oscar when an alert pops up on her phone. Against Siobhan’s advice, she picks up her phone to see TMZ and E! News alerts about her. Siobhan suggests a “Wilde card.”

Dexter and Anna push through the reporters to an awaiting car. During the ride, Anna voices concern about his mother being nearby. He claims his mother loves her. Talia (Juliana Canfield) is waiting for them when they arrive. She introduces them to the security guard, Kamal (Maaz Ali). Later, Anna questions why Talia is helping them. Dexter suggests she loves them. Looking for a sharper knife, she discovers a photo of Adeline, Dexter, Talia, and Theo. Shoving the photo back into the silverware drawer, she rejoins Dexter.

Anna hears a noise coming from the basement. She goes to check it out when she encounters Kamal. They enter the basement to find nothing out of the ordinary. The next day, Anna experiences pain during a yoga session. The yoga teacher (Carmen Borla) urges her to lie on a cushion. Later, Anna realizes she is bleeding. Kamal drives her to the hospital. When Ivy (Cara Delevingne) introduces herself, Anna questions if she knows her. Ivy claims to have transferred from Toronto. During the ultrasound, Anna asks to see the screen but Ivy refuses. Ivy removes the bloody transducer before leaving to find a doctor. With blood running down her legs, Anna walks to the toilet. After rising from the toilet, she sits on the floor. She envisions holding a baby. Dr. Sapirstein (Tim Venable) wakes her up. She lost her baby. Dexter claims to have turned his phone off to take a nap. Sapirstein says the baby was a boy before stressing the need for another ultrasound. She tells him that Ivy performed an ultrasound earlier. He denies the hospital employees a Nurse Ivy. The episode ends.

American Horror Story Review

The pace is unbearably slow. The only big revelation is Anna’s miscarriage which could have been summed up in 10 minutes. The characters lack suspense, zest, and charisma like Sister Jude Martin, Constance Langdon, Fiona Goode, and Elsa Mars. AHS will never be the same with Jessica Lange out of the picture.

The episode deserves a 6. Get more American Horror Story recaps here. Support Reel Mockery by donating. Our onsite advertising builds online awareness, click the link.
