As the second episode of Who Is Erin Carter? Begins, Erin Carter (Evin Ahmad) introduces herself to the students at the school. As she walks out of the classroom, she remembers the attack. Olivia Thorne (Susannah Fielding) approaches Erin to ask who she is. She goes on to ask why they should give Erin a full-time position there. Olivia reminds her that the interview is tomorrow so she needs to remember this stuff by heart. Erin says she really wants the job because Harper would get a full scholarship which is the only way they could keep her in the school.

When Olivia asks about her face, Erin claims she just bumped the car. Olivia admits Erin has her worried before encouraging her to give the interview panel something real. Later, Erin stops her car and gets out to ask Penelope Reyna (Charlotte Vega) if she’d like to come to their barbeque later. Erin gets back in her car and notices Harper (Indica Watson) is staring at something nearby. During the barbeque, Arlo (Michael T. Dozie) claims the guy in the supermarket got what he deserved. Erin notices that Jordi Collantes (Sean Teale) and Emilio Martin (Pep Ambros) are together. Harper believes she sees someone in a costume before Emilio comes over to ask her about the exams.

She looks again and sees that the costumed person is already gone. Jordi tells her that he was at the bottom of his class until Emilio helped. When Harper apologizes, Erin threatens to send her to her room. Harper doesn’t care so she leaves. Inside the house, Emilio approaches Erin to say he is going to need her help with the trouble he mentioned previously. He thinks she can handle it because he saw Erin break her neck. Erin claims he saw what he wanted to see. Emilio suggests he can help her in return. Erin hears a loud noise before finding Harper moving her furniture. Harper explains she is blocking the window so no one can get in.

Erin asks if this is about what happened at the supermarket or what she saw her with in the attic. Harper says the gun. Erin insists it wasn’t real. She explains that she got a fake weapon to scare off intruders because they lived in some pretty rough neighborhoods. In the morning, Jordi tells Erin that she’ll do great during the interview today. Erin goes to the school and gives the students an exam. While she waits for them to finish, Erin finds a news article about the robbery. She is shocked when Dylan Lang (Finnian Burke) hands in his paper with penises drawn all over it. Erin tells Olivia who offers to inform the year head.

Erin doesn’t want to escalate it so she suggests speaking to his parents instead. Olivia reminds her that the interview is booked for 3 PM. Erin leaves with Emilio who shows her a sniffer. He tells Erin that there is a crooked lawyer he needs information on. It is connected to a criminal gang he is investigating. Emilio admits he’d need to get a court order to do this legally. He is hoping Benecio Agustin will lead him to whoever is running the gangs. Once they arrive, Emilio asks her to go in and access the office. Erin makes it clear they’re done if she does this for him. She successfully sneaks into the house and reaches Agustin’s office where she plugs the sniffer into the computer.

Emilio becomes concerned when he sees a car pull up. He calls Erin to tell her to get out of there because Agustin will kill her. Erin finishes and hides before Agustin enters. However, she is approached by a cleaner who asks what she is doing. When the woman begins screaming, Erin pushes her and flees. Emilio sees Agustin (Rodrigo Poison) pull a gun on Erin on the balcony. Erin quickly disarms Agustin before jumping off the balcony into the water below. Erin swims and makes it to a shop that happens to be closed for lunch. Erin eventually makes it back to the school only to realize she is late. She is introduced to Gabrielle Leon from the school board and Penelope Reyna.

Erin learns that Penelope is with the parent-teacher association. The headmaster (Julius Cotter) tells Erin that a full-time position is a major step up. Erin isn’t sure she fits in there. She reveals that she emigrated to London with her mother who died when she was young. She grew up moving between care homes and changed classes regularly. Erin suggests some of the kids believe they don’t deserve to be there for whatever reason. They mention the night of the school musical when she left without informing anyone. Penelope says she left them understaffed with a building full of children. Erin promises it won’t happen again. Emilio is in a great mood when Erin returns home. He thanks Erin and promises she’ll see a new Emilio from now on.

Once he leaves, Jordi argues that they need to set Emilio up with someone. Erin wonders if Ana will ever change her mind and take Emilio back. While Harper is brushing her teeth, she sees the monster again in the mirror. She zones out and lets the water overflow. Erin and Jordi see water running down from above. They rush upstairs and check on Harper. In private, Jordi and Erin discuss Harper. He thinks she should speak to someone because she seemed terrified. Erin thinks taking her to a specialist would only make it worse. Erin says she has made her decision although Jordi thinks she should have a say in it.

At school, Olivia tells Erin that she didn’t get the job, but they’ll extend her part-time contract for another six months and review it. Although the interview went well, someone objected. Erin immediately blames Penelope. Daniel Lang (Douglas Henshall) arrives to talk about his son, Dylan. Daniel can’t believe she gave his son a zero on his exam until Erin shows him the exam. Erin thinks they should call it a cry for help. She suggests giving Dylan support and getting him an after-school tutor. He thanks her. Erin tells him he can call if he has any questions. Daniel asks who Penelope Reyna is. He thinks he could put in a good word for her since his donations built the basketball court outside.

Erin tells him he doesn’t have to worry about it. Before going home, Erin tells Harper to go inside because she wants to see Penelope. She goes inside with Penelope and curses her until she sees that Penelope has guests. Penelope tells her that everyone is already scared of her even though she claims Erin killed that supermarket man in self-defense. She reveals that she didn’t vote against Erin because she doesn’t care if she gets a promotion. Erin tells her she has a lovely home before leaving. She goes looking for Emilio who doesn’t seem to be home. She tries to find him using her phone. Erin goes home and tells Harper that Olivia will be coming over to watch her.

Erin leaves and uses her phone to try to find Emilio. She finds Agustin holding Emilio hostage and reminding him that he promised a few favors. Agustin tortures Emilio and demands to know who the woman is. Erin manages to free Emilio and help him escape. She gets into a fight with one of Agustin’s men. With help from Emilio, she eventually takes care of the man. In the car, Emilio confesses that he hasn’t been honest with her. He says he had no choice because he had gambling debts. Agustin said they’d be even if he gave him some inside information, but he always wanted more. As a result, Emilio needed to shut him down. Olivia tries to keep Harper busy.

Harper mentions that her mom has a gun before trying to show it to her. However, Olivia only finds a squirt gun. Erin runs into a pharmacy to get supplies to treat Emilio. Before she can leave, Agustin enters the store and questions who she is. Erin chases him out after he snaps a picture of her using his phone. She pleads with him not to send the photo. Agustin is adamant that he is going to anyway, but can’t because he gets hit by a car driven by Emilio. He urges Erin to come on. Emilio insists he was trying to help although Erin thinks he just made everything worse. Erin makes it home where she thanks Olivia for watching Harper.

After Olivia leaves, Erin finds blood on her shirt and discovers that her phone is no longer working. She gets frustrated while trying to clean the blood out of the shirt. Jordi comes in and checks on her before learning that she didn’t get the job. She says she screwed up and she can’t fix it. Jordi comforts her and insists it’ll be okay. At HMP Falstead Prison, Lena Campbell (Denise Gough) looks at a picture from the past.

Who Is Erin Carter? Review

The second episode of Who Is Erin Carter? was okay although the series can be a little slow at times. There isn’t much in terms of originality since so many similar shows and movies have been done previously. This obviously isn’t a series that fans will be able to take seriously because the action is over-the-top and there will probably be many deaths without consequences.

Erin’s fighting prowess is going to rub some fans the wrong way and it is easy to see why considering that cliché is becoming a staple of modern entertainment. The series is watchable, but it is somewhat difficult to accept the blend of Erin’s professional life and her secret life.

Some viewers will enjoy the cookie-cutter drama more than others, but I found the episode a little dull personally. It scores a 5.5 out of 10.
