Colin From Accounts Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

Benedict Cumbercrapp – As the second episode of Colin from Accounts begins, Gordon (Patrick Brammall) gets a rude awakening from Ashley (Harriet Dyer) who urinates in his nightstand. He wakes her up in the morning and she doesn’t remember anything. Ashley agrees that they’ll be out by tonight. Gordon makes sure she knows where the toilet and everything else is before leaving for work. Ashley curses him and goes back to sleep since it is a quarter past six. At work, Gordon tells Brett (Michael Logo) about Ashley still being at his house. He is interrupted by a call from Dr. Bruce (Tony Llewellyn-Jones) who tells him that the AFP was normal. The urine was a little high so he’d like to get Gordon back in for a follow-up.

When Gordon asks if the cancer has returned, Bruce admits it isn’t wise to talk about cancer just yet. He eventually says he’d like to order a cystoscopy right away. He explains that they’ll insert a small camera to have a look at what is going on inside. After the call, Gordon doesn’t tell Brett the truth about the call. Instead, he tells him about Ashley’s accident last night. Ashley feeds Colin before getting the door. Her mother Lynelle (Helen Thomson) tells her that Erin has been raped, but Ashley isn’t really friends with her anymore. Lynelle tells her how she tracked her to Gordon’s house. They go inside and introduce Lynelle to Colin. While looking around the house, Lynelle learns that Gordon’s name is Gordon Crapp. She tries to find out whether Gordon is rich enough to marry her daughter.

When they find the wet nightstand, Lynelle admits she thought Ashley was past that. She tells her that she won’t be able to stay here if he knows about this. Ashley is dropped off so she can meet with Megan (Emma Harvie) and buy a new nightstand. Megan reminds her that Gordon will know they’re not the same, but Ashley doesn’t need to be reminded of that. People keep stopping Ashley because they think she works at Costco. Megan is worried about her friend and suspects she might like Gordon. She urges her to call Gordon and tell him he can keep the dog because she is out. Megan reminds her that this year is supposed to be about them so Ashley agrees to call him. Gordon takes the call while Brett and Chiara (Genevieve Hegney) listen. Chiara urges him to get her out of the house. Ashley tells Gordon that she can’t look for a place to live, continue her studies, and look after the dog.

She says he is going to have to look after him until she finds a more permanent solution, but Gordon quickly says no. He reminds her that he said he wasn’t able to care for a high-needs dog upfront. Ashley claims he would’ve hit the dog anyway because it was destiny so she isn’t part of it. She tells him that she can stay with a friend, but the dog will have to remain in his house. They continue negotiating and agree that she can stay for a few more nights. Gordon tells her he has a date tonight and they just might come home with him. After the call, Lynelle comes in to tell Ashley that she spoke to Erin’s mother and they’re going to have coffee next week. Later, Ashley tries to find a place to rent as Gordon returns home and says hello to Colin. After a brief chat, Gordon goes upstairs and learns about the new nightstand.

Ashley pokes fun at his last name. He tells her how to get a pizza from the place nearby and put it on his account while Ashley continues making jokes about Crapp. At the restaurant, Belinda (Christie Whelan Browne) joins Gordon before Dean comes over to get their order. When Gordon makes fun of Dean’s pronouns, Belinda tells him he can’t say that because she has trans friends. The date doesn’t get any better once Belinda learns he works at a brewery. Outside of Gordon’s place, they make out briefly. Gordon wants to call it a night, but Belinda is eager to see his dog with wheels. They go inside and so Ashley pretends she is Gordon’s much younger sister. Belinda is eager to drink more, but Gordon wants to get rid of her. They end up drinking while Gordon and Ashley make up lies about their brother named Terry.

They keep going until Belinda decides to leave because she thinks there is something sexy going on between brother and sister. She questions if he even has a crippled dog or if he just used that to get her there. Belinda takes a bottle of alcohol before leaving. Ashley and Gordon apologize about the phone call earlier and Gordon says she didn’t have to replace the drawers. Ashley thinks she did. Gordon says it is okay and it happens even though it doesn’t happen to him. She promises it won’t happen again. Gordon offers to swap rooms with her before they try to decide whether they’re mates. He agrees to show her his nipple so they can even things out and become mates. As she walks to bed, Gordon makes fun of her wee incident.

Colin From Accounts Review

The second episode of Colin from Accounts was equally good as the first with some legitimately humorous moments even if they may touch on touchy topics. The relationship between Gordon and Ashley is slowly developing in an effective way. Both characters are likable so it is easy to want the best for them.

The show is lighthearted, charming, and a bit kooky making it a good choice for viewers who just want something to enjoy without agendas or needing to think too much. I can’t imagine the quality will drop in upcoming episodes although I could see Colin from Accounts getting even better.

So far, it is a good watch that could easily be compared to No Activity and The Moodys. The second episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Recaps of Colin from Accounts are available on Reel Mockery here. Consider supporting our work by following this link.
