Amitabh Bachchan sent legal notice to the pan masala brand after it aired the ad after the contract was terminated

On the occasion of his 79th birthday, megastar Amitabh Bachchan announced the end of his contract with a pan masala company on October 11. He made it clear that he had no idea it was classified as “surrogate advertising.” Now, the iconic actor has submitted a legal warning to the Pan Masala Brand after it broadcast the commercial long after the contract was ended, in a historic move.

According to a recent ETimes storey, despite the termination of the Endorsement agreement, the pan masala brand ‘Kamala Pasand’ has continued to air TV commercials after his dismissal.

The report quoted a source saying, “Came to know from the office of Mr Bachchan, that Legal notice has been sent to Kamala Pasand, to stop Broadcasting the TV commercials with Mr Bachchan immediately… as it was noticed that despite termination of the Endorsement agreement ‘Kamala Pasand’ has ignored the same and is seen to continue Airing the TV Commercials.”

The development comes after Amitabh Bachchan in a statement said, “‘Kamala Pasand’… a few days after the commercial was aired, Mr Bachchan contacted the brand and stepped out of it last week. Upon checking why this sudden move – it was revealed that when Mr Bachchan became associated with the brand, he wasn’t aware that it falls under surrogate advertising.”

The statement also read: “Mr Bachchan has terminated the contract with the Brand, has written to them his termination and has returned the money received for the promotion.”

Amitabh Bachchan recently responded to a social media fan who questioned his decision. He had justified his position at the time, claiming that it was a part of the entertainment industry, which employs many people.
