Jason Issacs will lead the discovery into the final frontier as he’s joined the cast of the forthcoming STAR TREK: DISCOVERY series.

Isscas will take the role of Captain Lorca but, as reports suggest, will not be the main focus of the show, that honour will go to THE WALKING DEAD’s Sonequa Martin-Green’s Rainsford who’s known to the crew as “Number One”. Issacs joins Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, James Fran, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy and Sam Vartholomeos in the series with Mary Chieffo, Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Michelle Yeoh as recurring characters.

The series will be a prequel to the original STAR TREK and has already experienced difficulty with original co-creator Bryan Fuller already leaving. That has been coupled with the original release being moved back from March to May and now resting, seemingly, on a late summer date. The series will be available on CBS All Access in the States and via Netflix everywhere else.
