Gundam Bamboo Art Craft Puzzle Will Appear Next Month in Japan

A new type of Gundam merchandise will let people build the eponymous mech with bamboo instead of plastic. Bandai Namco's subsidiary company Plex has opened pre-orders for the Bamboo Art wa-gu-mi craft puzzle of the RX-78-2 Gundam on the Japanese Premium Bandai website. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The publisher will formally release the puzzle set in November 2023. The bamboo craft edition will have some similarities to Gunpla model kits. The set will contain 2mm (0.08in)-thick bamboo runners that host a total of 421 parts.

The package will also include instruction manual sheets to guide the owner in picking parts to gradually construct the Mobile Suit. It will also let the owner build the Gundam's equipment, such as the shield, beam rifle, and beam sabers. The resulting Gundam will stand at 27cm (10.6in) tall when completed.

The Gundam bamboo craft puzzle will be available in Japan with a price tag of 10,000 yen (~$66.70). Due to the strict geo-restrictions of the Premium Bandai website, people residing outside Japan will have to find a proxy service on their own to procure this puzzle set.
