October’s Upcoming Games

October looks to be one of the biggest months this year for game releases with some very big and long-awaited titles becoming available. Take a look at what to expect from October.

 

ASSASSIN’S CREED ODYSSEY

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Release: 5th October

The 11th major instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series takes you back 400 years before the events of last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins to ancient Greece where you take on the role of a mercenary fighting your way through the Peloponnesian War to uncover secrets of your past and change the fate of ancient Greece. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have a much bigger focus on RPG gameplay elements than previous games in the series, with dialogue options, branching storylines, and multiple endings all being present in the game. For the first time in the series you will also be able to choose the hero you play as, embarking on your journey as either Alexios or Kassandra.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox one on 5th October, with early access starting on 2nd October.

SUPER MARIO PARTY

Platform: Switch

Release: 5th October

The much-loved Mario Party (1998) board game series returns, making its way to Switch. Featuring over 80 brand new mini-games.  With all games only requiring one Joy-Con, you can play with anyone by immediately sharing the second Joy-Con. For the first time ever in the Mario Party series, you can test your skills online against anyone in the world in the Online Mariothon mode. Toad’s Rec Room is another new feature to the series that lets you pair up two Switch consoles. Laying them side-by-side on a flat surface you’ll be able to play like a real table top game.

Super Mario Party is a Nintendo Switch exclusive and will release on 5th October.

WWE 2K19

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Release: 9th October

WWE 2K19 arrives as the latest game in the WWE franchise. WWE 2K19 will showcase a huge roster of current wrestlers, WWE Legends, Hall of Famers, as well as NXT favourites. The game will feature the returning 2K Showcase mode that focuses on the career of Daniel Bryan that allows players to take control of 11 different models of Bryan in 11 different matches as well as an additional mystery match.

Towers mode is a brand-new mode to the franchise where you compete against a string of opponents using a WWE Superstar of your choice. Each tower has its own unique theme and consists of a variety of challenging matches, including different win conditions and stipulations. Within this mode you can also take part in the Million Dollar Challenge, a tough tower dedicated to cover star AJ Styles which if completed gives one luckily player the chance to win one million dollars as well as the chance to play with AJ Styles himself.

This year’s Career mode has also been reinvented to have a more linear storyline that focuses on the player’s created character as they work their way up to WWE superstardom.

WWE 2K19 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 9th October, with early access starting from 5th October.

 

THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU

Platform: Switch

Release: 12th October

Originally released on 3DS in 2007, The World Ends With You is now making its way to Switch in a definitive version which features a new scenario and remixed music.

Taking place in a fictional Shibuya, the dead must battle it out in the Reapers’ Game for the chance to be brought back to life, or face total erasure. Protagonist Neku, prefers his own company and will avoid social interaction at all costs, but with his existence on the line he needs to quickly learn to play nice with others if he wants to beat the game.

The World Ends With You will be available on Nintendo Switch on 12th October.

 

CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 4

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Release: 12th October

The long awaited and fan favourite Call of Duty: Black Ops is back with a forth game. With its signature multiplayer combat, characters, locations, and weapons, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is offering the biggest Zombie mode to date with three full adventures all available at launch

Call of Duty has also jumped on the battle royale train with its own version, Blackout, which also happens to feature the largest map in Call of Duty history.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 12th October.

 

LEGO DC SUPER-VILLAINS

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch

Release: 19th October

Embark on an all-new LEGO adventure playing as the various villains from the DC universe. In collaboration with DC comics and taking place in an expansive open world, the Justice League has disappeared leaving Earth in the hands as the self-proclaimed Justice Syndicate.

Playing as the likes of renown super-villains The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, Killer Frost, Sinestro, as well as many others, you set out on an epic journey unleashing mischievous antics and wreaking havoc to ensure the world that villains are very much present.

LEGO DC Super-Villains will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on 19th October.

 

SOULCALIBUR VI

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Release: 19th October

Two decades after its first instalment, weapons-based head-to-head fighter Soulcalibur returns with game number six.

Soulcalibur VI is a reboot of the series, taking place during the 16th century and revisiting the events of the Soulcalibur game. Featuring a roster of returning and new characters, Soulcalibur VI welcomes Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher (2007) game series to the fight.  Players who choose to fight as Geralt will be able to use all of his skills including signature potions and signs from The Witcher series.

Soulcalibur VI will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 19th October.

 

RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Release: 26th October

From the creators of the Grand Theft Auto (1997) series, the sequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption tells an epic tale as the end of the wild west era fast approaches.

As the few remaining outlaw gangs are hunted down, Arthur Morgan and the Van de Linde gang are forced to flee after a robbery goes badly wrong. With hunters closely following their tracks, the gang must rob and fight their way across America in order to survive. If being hunted down by the best bounty hunters in the country wasn’t bad enough, internal conflicts are threatening to tear the gang apart and Arthur must choose between his own ideals and his loyalty.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 26th October.
