TRENTON, Ohio — A former Trenton police officer was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to committing two felonies while in office.

Michael D. Gillen resigned from the Trenton Police department on April 10 after being indicted on felony charges of tampering with evidence, theft in office, and unauthorized use of property in November.

As part of a plea deal in Butler County, Judge Keith Spaeth dropped the charge of tampering with evidence, according to Dayton, Ohio television station WHIO.

Gillen’s indictment came as a surprise to Trenton City Manager John Jones when the charges were initially announced by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. You can read the full story here.

Apparently Mighty Mike was stealing items out of the impound lot for his own profit. Even though he was accused and investigated before for the same crime Mike apparently never stopped his “side business”.

This is another thing that is wrong with Police Departments nationwide. They let police officers get away with a lot of misconduct then act shocked when they are finally forced to terminate somebody. It’s all politics, Basically you can get away with anything as long as your evil deeds don’t go public and bring heat on the department. Whenever a cop is terminated there is always some underlying reason besides the misconduct that he is is accused of for his termination.

People really have no idea whatsoever the corruption and misconduct that is prevalent in ALL police departments. Without getting into specifics I once got a close up view of what these guys are really like behind the scenes. And let’s just say what I saw and experienced left a life long impression. And I don’t mean in a good way.
