Someone messed up. 2017's team-up of DC's most iconic superheroes in Justice League should have been a billion dollar box office smash (if 2012's first assembling of Marvel Studios The Avengers was anything to go by with its $1.5 billion global ticket sales).
Even Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the first solo Wonder Woman movie were good indications that bringing together all these fan-favourite comic book characters would be a spectacular hit (with worldwide box offices of over $873 and $821 million, respectively), but then Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the ball on the DC Universe film franchise.
Zack Snyder was replaced by Joss Whedon in post-production due to a family tragedy (after battles for creative control of the project) and the new director's completion and reshoots to lighten up the former's bleak tone resulted in a critical and commercial bomb.
In the aftermath, and amidst other scandals like Ray 'Cyborg' Fisher's claims of toxic racial mistreatment on the theatrical release set, DC fans touted the existence of a Snyder Cut of the superhero movie and this March their desires finally come true with a new four-hour version of the film (with additional cut material and new footage) available to stream on HBO Max.
These atmospheric black-and-white movie billboards (which include Superman this time around) were photographed along the Sunset Strip, La Brea Avenue, San Vicente Boulevard, Pico Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard from March 11 to 12, 2021.
