Between The World and Me billboards...

Representation matters and in this moment in time with the Black Lives Matter movement so front of mind, it matters even more.
This November HBO has adapted acclaimed writer Ta-Nehisi Coates 2015 book, Between The World and Me, for the small screen.
Written as a letter to his teenage son, the author recounts his experiences growing up in Baltimore's inner city and his growing fear of daily violence against the Black community and exploring the notion that American society structurally supports white supremacy (and if you need any proof, just look at the travesty of the last four years as an example).
This TV special that gives deeper, or new, understanding to his life as a black person in America is based on the 2018 adaptation of the book and staging at the Apollo Theater and features the talents of the writer himself, Susan Kelechi Watson, Mahershala Ali, Yara Shahidi, Oprah Winfrey, Courtney B. Vance, Jharrel Jerome, Angela Bassett, Mj Rodriguez, Phylicia Rashad and more besides.
These arresting billboards were photographed along Sunset Boulevard, La Brea Avenue, Vine Street and Wilshire Boulevard from November 10 to November 24, 2020.
For comic book fans, you can also check out more of Ta-Nehisi Coates work and powerful insights in the pages of Marvel Comics Captain America and Black Panther titles.
